QantasLink Airbus A220 Discussion

It was painted as a day where mum works with son, reality is son worked while mum paxed. The divisive corporate structures now in place mean it’s not possible for that particular mother son combo to work together whatsoever. Qantas cabin crew on any of the variety of EBAs (think there are three) cannot work on NJS aircraft and vice versa.

Fair enough, but that's not what your original post said. The article isn't clear if she was a passenger or crew (there's sentences that imply both), but the overall gist is 'Qantas hostie mum surprises pilot son on first day' , whether she was a stewardess or just a passenger is pretty immaterial.
The difference in EBAs and structure of subsidiaries doesn't change how any normal person would read that story, and certainly not a "fabrication" because "they are employed by two different companies".

Whoever the employer was, cabin crew on the A220 wear a QF uniform so why couldn't the mother have worked those flights?
Cabin crew can only work on aircraft types they’re trained on. Before COVID that was a single type but in many cases with QF they can now work multiple types such as A330 one day A380 the next in the case of long haul (QAL) but only in the entity that employs them under the respective AOC.
Qantas domestic work on domestic aircraft. Qantas cabin (UK) work on 787 and A380. Jetconnect work on 737 or long haul. Qantas link work on A319/A320/F100 while NJS work on Dash 8/A220.

Ultimately when have facts got in the way of good PR when two fifths of very little people who see that will know (or care)?
The news.com.au story says she works for the Qantas group, so could she not be a longtime NJS FA? NJS started flying Australian Airlines flights in the 1990's.
