QantasLink acquires 6 more A320s to based in PER due to surge in demand

I expect this would also be due to many FIFO resource projects suffering labour shortages, all their workforce is imprisoned within WA with interstate rosters and rotations impossible so companies will start to have to offer more attractive WA based rosters to keep their workforce, more attractive rosters mean shorter rosters so that means more frequent services = more aircraft required.

As per recent Qantas results, 5 more A319s and A320s on the way to Network.

Safe to assume the A320s are Jetstar transfers as per the rest of the Network/QantasLink fleet.
A related question is where would the A319s be coming from?

On a related note: 3K will start growing again with 2x A320s, also likely transfers from Jetstar.

In summary, the changes are:
  • Five mid-life A319/320 aircraft to support the growth of the resources market in Western Australia, for delivery in FY24.
  • Three additional mid-life A321P2F aircraft to accelerate renewal of Qantas Freight fleet, for delivery in FY25 and FY26.
  • Two additional A320s for Jetstar Asia as demand across Asia rebounds, for delivery in mid calendar year 2023. This will bring its total fleet size back up to nine aircraft.
  • Options for up to 12 additional E190 aircraft to be wet leased from Alliance Airlines to provide increased capacity and network connectivity in the domestic market.
  • Exercising nine existing purchase right options for A220 aircraft, for delivery in FY26 and FY27 as part of ‘Project Winton’ deal with Airbus.

Used aircraft always available. But condition & life left needs evaluation.

Scoot/Tiger had some A319s parked in Alice, Skytraders leased one.

I think the A320 transfers have already started up again from Jetstar, they say ‘mid life’ but they are nearly 20 years old, flew on one the other week, I’d be more inclined to call them ‘end of life’ but whatever really.

The first Network Aviation/QantasLink Airbus A319 will be registered VH-8NP, and is coming from the USA after operating for Spirit.

Ta, HS-TQE.
Another thing to watch out for, now, grr, if willing to pay for J, eg, on routes like VAd ADL - PER, nearly every day, even if a pax wants J, happy to pay J, there is not an option of J.
And those planes coming to QFlink, they are not FIFO, so another "downgrade".
