When I pay for my flights approx 3000, am I better off using the AMEX ANZ VISA card (Qantas FF member) or the Qantas CAsh Card as far as earning points goes? I suspect it's AMEX.
cHEERS.

AMEX is better.
You only earn a measly 0.5 point per Aud$1, not worth it really.
If you have an AMEX card already, and can pay for the trip, use that.
QCC, you still pay for the CC fee for using QCC to pay unless you book your flight 7 days before departure. Who books that close to international departures, eh?
If a person or pooch like me who can't be an approved real visa or mastercard credit card holder, (not debit of either schemes/or AMEX, then the QCC would be a good idea.
How much is the earn rate per Aud$1 on your AMEX? 1 point : Aud$1? Or 0.75 point : Aud$1 spent?
Edit: if its the ANZ Frequent Flyer banner twin card, 1 point : Aud$1 spent, go for that, I peeked at the ANZ website.

It would help if the OP clarified which card exactly s/he has, the standard, Platinum or Black card, and whether s/he intends to use the Visa or Amex component.

Thank you.

It's the ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer Visa and AMEX rolled into one. Pretty sure it's 1 point per dollar spent, plus I get bonus points, sometimes 1.5 points for things like ANZ insurance and any other bonus partners. So yes, I see now it's better than Qantas card. However the percentage the travel agents charge to use CC scares me a little. can't remember the percentage off hand but sure it's standard. I'm never really sure whether earning the points is worth spending that % on larger amounts.

Thanks so much for everyone's replies.

You didn't mention if you have the standard, Platinum or Black card. On the Amex component you earn 1 point per $1 spent on the standard, and 1.5 points per $1 on the Platinum and Black. In addition, you earn 1 bonus point per $1 spent on your QF flight ticket purchase. Again, depending on which card you have a cap on points earning potential may apply. You should refer to this page for more details.

The card payment fees charged can be viewed here.

You could try negotiating the % that travel agents charge for cc use. They will waive it sometimes - depends on how much they are getting out of the fare. If you are getting a good deal on the fare they are less likely to waive cc fee.

Mmm, thats the other thing, some travel agents can charge, or they say on ads, that there is a 3% surcharge for paying with an AMEX card, but as the others have said, try to negotiate.
The last time I physically went to a travel agent to book a ticket was in 1996.
1998 I did by phone to QF when they still flew their own planes, SYD to KUL, after that its been all online, and I have bitten the "bullet" and paid all by Visa credit (at that time), card since surrendered, now I pay by Visa/Mastercard debit. Using Visa/Mastercard debit, QF charges $2.50 only. Or bpay from my transaction account, no fees.
Another discovery, was how easy its to pay by Poli payments, of course, no CC credit card points rewards, by paying with Poli payments.

Thanks everyone.
Its a standard card.
I presume poli payments are periodical payment s from Bank account?
