The QFF joining fee does count as your first QANTAS spend (well it did for me about 4 months ago)

I just got this card about a month ago but now I see on the website that it says it is $149 p.a. I was lucky enough to get on the $0 fee.

They have changed how the 5000 point bonus works as well.
Now, on your first spend you get 2,500 points and on your first qantas spend you get 2,500 points.

Signing up for the card has been on my to do list for a while.

I was going to sign up for it today and saw it was $149!
Im quite pissed now...

I wonder if those who signed up for $0pa will get to keep it..

I applied when it was $0 and haven't received anything to say that the fee has changed. If they ever decide to charge I will cancel it ASAP.

I dont suppose anyone has a PDF application form with this offer on it?

I wouldn't mind applying with it to see if i can avoid the $150 fee which has now been imposed.

I have a hard copy offer letter that came by snail mail several months ago.

If I fill it in soon and return it to Amex do you think Amex will honour the deal? There doesn't appear to be an expiry date on the offer.

And, in breaking news, Amex now has a new offer out.

My son received junk mail from Amex addressed to him yesterday, offering a Blue Sky Credit Card from American Exprss, No Annual Fee, 6.99% interest for 6 months on balance transfers and free enrolment in Membership Rewards 'Blue Sky.' I'm not sure about the benefits of the 'Blue Sky' rewards program but I suspect that it does not allow points transfers to QFF.

Applications must be submitted by 10 Jan 2009.

The offer is also available on the web, although it is slightly different. The free features are the same but the wording about the Membership Rewards program is a little ambiguous - I think membership in the rewards program is free but perhaps not so! The web offer closes on 15 Dec 2008, almost a month before the mailout offer.

There's a half-price offer on points redemption for flights at the moment which makes the points quite valuable. A return flight Syd <=> Mel costs 8,000 points, half the normal fee. (Points accumulate at the rate of 1 point per dollar spent.) The catch is that the half price offer ends on 31 Dec, leaving you without much time to accumulate points.

Check out the offer here: www.americanexpress.com.au/myblueskycreditcard3 then click on the hotlink below the words "Don't have a RSVP code." Finally, click on the highlighted 'blue' card.

I thought a return flight SYD-MEL required 16,000 points plus taxes and surcharges. Is it 8,000 points to use points for the taxes and surcharges instead of cash?

You're right. I was quoting the SYD-ADL rate. Now fixed.
