Qantas WP seat selection on EK ticket

Hi,

I'm going to book a Y ticket with Emirates to London and I read that as a QF platinum that I get to select certain seats for free. However, when I go to book the ticket on Emirates I don't have the option of free seats.

So is this an actual benefit? Does the benefit only become apparent once the tickets or booked or do I need to do seat selection on the Qantas website?

When booking and after entering your FF number and proceeding to selecting seats there is this:

As a frequent flyer member of another airline, depending on your tier, you may be entitled to seat charge exceptions, however the prices will be updated after a minimum of three hours. You can proceed with your seat selection now, but you won’t be entitled to a refund once you process the payment, or you can return to Manage your booking later to select your seat, after your tier benefits will be updated on our system.

So I suggest, book but don't select seats as you'll have to pay for them. Come back later (mon 3 hours) and do so. As a WP, this should then be free of charge.

Thanks for this. I called them yesterday and they said to book and call them back and they can change seating.

Unfortunately I got to the end of the booking but didn't proceed as I wasn't sure about seating. The price has now risen by $300! I called them back to see if the seats were held for me but there is no booking. I've gone back to it this morning and the price is still high. Do you think these seats will be released and that the price will revert?

Once you have a booking clicking on seats takes you to Emirates website where you get complimentary seat selection.
