Qantas Wine latest offering

What's the go with the extra 2k-3k points for ordering over the phone?

Do you just ask, or is it conditional, eg for ordering a case or more, or first purchase, etc?

I usually just ask them what the current offers are and how many more bonus points they can offer. Seems to be spend related and various from 2k to upto 10k per purchase

Phoned to order a case of Yalumba Barossa Valley Cabernet Shiraz 2017. I'd received an offer for 2,000 points per bottle. At 10am already sold out, unless it had been around for days already. I did score one bottle only. In a moment of weakness broker talked me into a case of Warramunda Liv Zac Block One Cabernet Franc blend 2020. At $30 bottle and 1500pts each works out at 50pts/$. Hope it is alright, does anyone have any experience with this one?
Also grabbed a case of d'Arenberg d'Arry's Original Grenache Shiraz 2020 at $203.88 for 12 plus 6,000pts.
31k pts for a $604 spend.

It falls in and out of stock periodically. If you're after the wine, rather than the points, I have a spare case of the Yalumba that I'd be happy to gift you (excess to what I will consume, so more than happy to gift it). PM me if you're interested!

It’s a very drinkable drop…..

@CaptainCurtis That is a very kind offer. I was looking at the points and thought it would be nice to try the wine, but I'd be happy to share one together. :)

I had the same experience @prozac. I'd read here somewhere that the Yalumba Barossa Valley Cabernet Shiraz was rebadged Signature so at $40/bottle with a bunch of QFF points and a $50 voucher I was keen. I had that a case of that wine and a mixed case of that and other Yalumba reds in my cart but they sold out while I faffed about (overnight) with other things. When I called, they were flogging the Warramunda and few others I'd not heard of but had high point/$ returns. It does take some will power to resist their offers.

In the end I went for some Margareys Lane Glenroy Shiraz at $30/bottle but I didn't buy enough to elicit any bonus points. The Glenroy Cab Sav 2013 I bought from them last year is the best red I've had (hard to say that without hyperbole), so if the 2015 Shiraz is even half decent then I'll be super happy. She recommended contacting them by email early in the month to see what 'off-site' specials they have for that month.

Incidentally, can multiple vouchers be used over the phone?

Don't know, never had any.

Was at All Saints yesterday. Didn't do any tasting as had some driving ahead, but the winery is rather splendid. Built around 1864 by 2 Scottish chaps and a swag of Chinese gold prospectors who were offered employment when the gold at Beechworth ran low. Amazing castle style and the drive lined with trees that meet overhead is something else.

Couple of good deals on for the points collectors:
  1. Magarey Lane Glenroy Cabernet Sauvignon 2014: $480.6 in a 6-pack (after PCP discount), with 30,000 points = 1.6c per point. The 2013 was very drinkable.
  2. Blue Pyrenees Richardson Reserve Shiraz 2018: $85.5 per bottle (after PCP discount), with 5,000 points per bottle = 0.171c per point. If you have any $50 vouchers lying around, you can pick up a bottle for $35.5, at 0.71c per point.
Wouldn't be buying either at these prices without the points, but both are very drinkable.

”Very drinkable” isn’t really a glowing endorsement at $80+ a bottle 🤣

I purchased some bonus point wine last week.

12 bottles of Warramunda Liv Zac Block One Cabernet Franc Blend 2020 @ $360. 18,000 bonus points
2 x Bottles of Thorn Clarke Ron Thorn Barrel Select Barossa Shiraz 2019 @ $125 each. 12,000 bonus points.

Total cost would have been $549 after my 10% PC+ discount.

The main purpose was to get the points required to acheive PC+ again.

When I called and asked some extra bonus points for the purchase the agent said that he could offer me 5,000 but I had to forgo the PC+ 10% discount. I eventually settled for 6,000 extra points and gave up the discount and came away with 36,000 points for $610 which works out to 0.170 cents per point........and hopefully some decent wine.

Has anyone else encountered this trade off required between extra points and 10% discount?

Any comments re the wine?

Ive asked before about bonus points and received the same information. I had to forgo the PC+ 10% discount and was not able to apply my $50 voucher.

Does anybody know if that's $300 after PCP discounts, vouchers, etc?
Offer ends 24 April 2024 11:59pm (AEST) unless sold out prior. Qantas may withdraw or extend these offers at any time. A$100 Qantas Hotels and Holidays voucher will be eligible to members who spend $300 or more at Qantas Wine between 18 - 24 April 2024.

I read that as “you have to spend $300”. Vouchers are applied as a discount so if you want the $100 hotel voucher, you need to have $300 hit your credit card.

Any recommended wines with standout bonus points?
I bought a case of these as a weekday pizza wine. Seemed to be a decent combo of wine and points. I haven't tried it yet (case was delivered yesterday - maybe pizza for dinner tonight!). Apparently, $26.99 at Dans.

Although, being on sale, it's just under the $300 spend for the new promo (that I missed out on). So just buy another case of points and wine!
