Qantas - Virgin Blue Baggage Interline?

I'm flying SYD-BNE on QF then BNE-HTI on DJ and return.. Can I get my bag checked through all the way?

I was AMAZED on a recent QF flight to hear the announcement made that folks connecting to Jetstar flights had to collect their bags and recheck them...did I hear that right?

I was amazed.... for two reasons..

1. Presumably at least some folks would have bought both flights on the QF website.. right?

and..

2. I was "connecting" to an NZ flight...and MY bags WERE checked right through...

Is that weird or what?

No, that's just Jetstar...

It's common for LCC's to not have an interline agreement, and as far as I know JQ doesn't even let you check your bags right through, if your transferring at any point you'll have to pick your bags up and re-check them. It does however save them a few $$$ as it means they don't have to have someone specifically go over to the other airlines (sometimes their competitior) and drop off bags.

Almost right - JQ does allow limited Baggage transfers, mainly to/from international QF and JQ flights in some circumstances.

To be eligible, your flights must be in the same booking
