Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

HNL to Syd on 27th Sept, from Y+ to J. Then Syd - Adl y to J. No texts from Qantas. Just saw our seats on expert flyer in PE were now available to book. Scurried in to check our seats. And change one of them. Nice. Whole trip now has moved from Y+ to J.

Forgot to post at the time.
Unsuccessful QF703 CNS-MEL on 27 August:

P1 family request but plane was full in J and did not expect to be successfull in peak season. Message came at T-3.

Gold fail Y->J on QF648 PER-SYD a330, BUT, success on the return QF33 which was well worth the points.

I will note that there were a rather large number of domestic travellers on QF33. Wonder how light the load is on the ongoing PER-CDG.

WP fail for J to F request on QF2 SIN-SYD about 2 weeks ago.

Also, has anyone recently encountered not being able to request an upgrade for a domestic flight (on a Red e-Deal fare)?

QF1909 CBR-BNE CR Y -> J at T-71
I don't recall ever having an upgrade confirmed so early on.

While I ought not be that excited on an E190, it will be my first time flying this aircraft (intentionally Y to Brisbane), and I'll get to experience both Dom and Bus lounges in Brisbane for the first time in 17 years!

Upgrade requests for a 2xPS (at the time, now SG):
QF9 PER to LHR on 28 September, Y to J unsuccessful, but was successful for Y to PE
QF10 LHR to PER on 23 October, both Y to J and Y to PE unsuccessful

What would be the consensus of the regulars here about the chances of an upgrade on QF 1 or 9?

I might have to go early Dec for work to Germany. They will only pay economy. Perhaps flex.

Deciding whether I take the chance going via LHR with an upgrade request or more direct via EK or similar with zero chance of upgrade. 🤷‍♂️

From reading here I would say low to middling. 😅
