You don't call for upgrade but only through MMB. You could cancel original and reapply when WP but not sure if it would make any difference. I'd expect it to know you've gone up a level. But this is Qantas I guess

Yes, I wondered about cancel/re-request. But worried it might push me to back of queue, if time of request is also a factor. But don ‘t know if it actually is.

It’s possibly a tie breaker within your status group; and after other factors like fare bucket, LT status, PCV etc. I’d leave it as it is. The system will see you are WP at the time of processing
