Could intake advantage of the expert FF brains trust please? I am on Q1 Sin to LHR on Monday 29/6 and have requested an upgrade to First. I am currently in business on flex ticket and I am P1. I am connecting from Mel on QF37. I can see on Expert Flyer there are 3 empty seats in First but I was wondering how the “order” of upgrade requests is processed and if I have any chance of if I am only connecting in Sin?
I had same question on return flight on 10/7 on QF2 LHR to Sin as I have requested upgrade to First from biz flex?
Many thanks! R

I don't think it matters what seat you are upgrading from (other that you can only ugrade to 1st from bus), rather it is by status and within status by time of request.

The tricky bit though is joining / leaving at Singapore, don't know if all 'through traffic' gets done 1st

You are flying on the 29th, it is currently the 26th
P1 should be 7 days in advance.

No upgrade has come through, despite your status, so maybe 'through' traffic indeed gets priority ?

Hopefully someone has better knowledge and you can always report back.
Given your status, maybe run the FF centre and ask ?

The Flight Availability search on Expert Flyer now shows availability of 2 in first class (Fare Class F only).
Be careful to use this tool not the Seat Map tool.
The Seat Map tool will often show empty seats even if all seats are booked, because some PAX have not done seat selection.
The flight is still 81.5 hours away so I would wait 9.5 hours until T-72 before I even began to be concerned.
I know P1 may have upgrades confirmed earlier but my recent experience with QF suggests they are confirming upgrades much later than the published timetables.
Further on this route I would not be surprised if QF kept the 2 F seats available for sale to full revenue PAX up until the last minute.
So an upgrade confirmation could come through quite late.

That’s really helpful thank you! I did not know to check flight availability and not seat map - doh! Yes I have found upgrade confirmation to be much later too. I’ve got my fingers crossed 🤞🏼 chuckle but I do love the A380 anyway - normally do code share on Emirates for this route to Europe so it’s a change to do Qantas and it would be excellent if I get a First upgrade!

IME all my P1 (and WP) upgrades came through at around T-27. I recall reading experiences about other P1s getting it earlier
Aside from a few over the last 12 months that landed around T-40, I concur with this. It's mainly been T-27 to T-20 for me when on QF.

I think both status and fare class booked can come into it. With what you’ve booked and your status I expect you’d have a reasonable chance though even as a P1 it could be still a 50-50 chance.

I should also mention that being on your own helps.
Easier to upgrade one person than two or more.
