Just received an email offering up to 20% off selected domestic airfares until April 1, for flights 9 May until 16 September.

Haven't checked any flights.

Anyone else receive this?

It reduced the one-way MEL-PER Red e-deals flights I checked from $229 to $206, so a savings of $23 or 10%.

And J was reduced from $1849 to $1474, so a savings of $375 or 20%.

Flex seemd to stay the same price.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I suggest reading the Terms and conditions. They prohibit sharing the details or advertising on social media. I'm not sure if "the details" would include the terms and conditions. but they are fairly restrictive. the discount is "upto 20%" and only for select red-e-deal fares. My quick search says this means only sale fares. This results in only a $7 discount, which is nullified by having to use the promo page to book. not the gift voucher page, and therefore paying a CC fee of $7.

As with VA the discount might also only be on the base fare and not taxes/fees.

Oh and the discount is available for a limited number of bookings.

By "details of the offer not to be shared", I'm assuming they mean the link and the code to use.

And they don't even mention this restriction in the email. You have to download the T&Cs to read that.

But it's more than just Red e-deals and sale fares. It's a discount on J-class fares too.

Details of the offer could be a very broad term.

My comment was focused on the red e deal side. Specifically that not all rededeals are discounted, only select rededeals are discounted. That doesn't exclude the business discount. However the email does exclude flexi Y.

received mine too. Booked a few flights over the weekend - usual poor timing on my behalf

Same but different. My offer is from Budget.

Interesting. Part of the same group, so not entirely surprising. I haven't received anything from Budget, despite also having a Budget Fastbreak membership, though I don't use Budget anywhere near as often as Avis.

The days of these deals not "being shared" are long over.

Thanks to Ozbargain.

(and yes its already on there….get in quick)

A few more requirements in the T&Cs that look like they try to stop unauthorised use:

The original recipient of the offer (a customer or employee of the sending company) must be the primary contact and provide their email address when making the booking. The email address used in the booking must be the same as the registered email address that the offer was sent to. If the offer was received in the mail, the mailing address that the offer was sent to must be included in the booking. Friends and family can be included in the booking when they travel together with the original recipient of the offer.

If you can book it, do you care?!

I'm just giving a heads up. Wouldn't want others to miss out if they needed to use it. But you're correct. I got the offer so I don't care.

I got it too, not sharing due to the T&C's.
Bit of a weird one I think and the first time I've seen SoMe mentioned specifically.

But why not share if you don't intend to book? That meets all the T&Cs as far as I can see. I didn't ask for the offer - or agree to it - or negotiate it - they just sent it.

How DARE they!

I'm not sure what SoMe means. But agreed a weird offer.

I might use the offer. I also want to keep receiving offers.

The conditions also say that my email address has to be used on the booking and that I have to travel. I'm not interested in travelling with strangers. The offer is also only useable 5 times.

I mean you can't send an offer to someone and say you can't even talk about the offer. Even before the receiver of the offer agrees to that. I don't know how opening an email means you have accepted all the T&Cs contained in the email (well actually you had to go further and download them separately in this case).

I suspect some of the T&Cs in this particular email (I mean the download you also had to do) are just rubbish.

Yesterday I used a SoMe offer from Amex that required a referral to be sent via either Facebook or Linkedin. So we opened two Linkedin accounts and went ahead, and then closed the accounts.

(I must say I was impressed, the bonus points from Amex for the referral came through within 12 hours or so.)

I received the Avis promotion as well.

I checked a SYD-BNE airfare on sale for $109 and reduced the price down to $104 or <5%. So for a return airfare I would save $10 and I would then pay the $7.70 credit card surcharge for saving of $2.30 which is not that crash hot.

And why are we afraid to post the Avispromo?

It does seem to depend when and what you book. But I found much bigger savings on some fares (10% off MEL to PER Red e-deal for exampe). That was a better saving than the CC charge. And in J it was $100s off (20%).

I found savings of over 20% :).
