Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

I would happily make a $100 for an extra 10 status credits but the issue is that it will take I think take quite a number of flights to complete, unless I suppose you are flying long haul.
Yes, long haul offsets jump up quite a lot. Also, higher cabins also attract higher offset values.

But probably much more than $100 (for a return ticket).

No doubt someone will calculate the sweet spot eg multiple short hops or 1-2 longish hops.
I wonder will they introduce any other options for earning points in the sustainability category.
That would be nice, but there’s nothing in the recently published definitions. Given that it’s already possible to drop $100+ on a single booking, I suspect no other options will appear.

I wonder if they’re having a few IT issues. I’ve just switched over as well but it hasn’t properly reset my account to a new year, last year’s SC’s haven’t been wiped yet, and my PC target to reach before 8 December still includes all of last year’s points. Might have to give it a few more days to update?

I just switched to new membership year and just received the message that I have Points Club + will 31st October 2028 🤨
Ditto. (Give it a day or two and the system should right itself though, taking my SCs with it sadly.)

I'm hoping that they announce what will replace the ability to earn SCs on award travel soon mind you, given that I'm relying on award travel to get my four squiggles next year (A fun little MEL-SYD-CBR-SYD jaunt is locked in.)

Same experience

A similar thing happened to me last month. A day or so after moving to my new membership year, the app gave me a nice full screen congratulations popup that I'd retained Points Club through to September 2028, and everywhere else in the app and My Account also said September 2028. It seemed Qantas was being generous because I'd earned PC in the last month of my membership year?

However without any notification, I noticed a few days later it was now showing September 2027 again.

Typical of Qantas to appear to give something with great fanfare only to silently take it away like it never happened.

But you got what was expected?

PC to Sep 2027.

So you can’t really complain if a “bank error” in your favour doesn’t stick.

Still odd. We both rolled over on 31 Aug with PC+ to end of Aug 2027 (no mention of 2028 but that’ll come in a few days).

This is a regular occurrence with Qantas IT, but as expected, it's gradually sorting itself out for me at least.

My SCs from last year have disappeared (no sign of PCP rollover yet mind you), and my PC has reset to zero, as has green tier. Interestingly, green tier menu has disappeared under my account now (but shows up through the app).

EDIT as with my PCP rollover (which occurred at the same time as my SCs expired last year), my membership of the esteemed piece of greenwashing that was Green Tier seems to have dropped off despite requalifying earlier in the year. Looks like I'll have to send another email off in a few days. Sigh...

Not quite, I wasn't expecting the extension to 2028, but when they send you a full screen popup saying you're getting it until 2028, and they change all your expiry dates to say 2028, without any other further explanation, I mean it's a really poor customer experience at best, and blatantly misleading at worst.

Anyway, one other thing to be aware of is that for me the points earned during that changeover limbo period (for me the first 3 days of the month) did not get included in the new year's tally for PC.

Basically the reset happened 3 days in, and seemingly they extended my previous year by 3 days, so points activity for those first 3 days of my new membership year got wiped instead of being correctly included in the current/new membership year's tally towards PC.

I'm debating whether I bother to email QFF about it, since I'm unlikely I'll make the push to requalify for PC before 8 December anyway so it doesn't really matter.

What was the “Activity” date on the stuff that was wiped? Current member year or previous?

Current year, same dates as posted, 1 and 2 October.

Basically all the points earned prior to the 'expired status credits' line don't end up counting for this year. Everything after it adds up to the current tally.

The 5000 points I got from EDR and 24 points from Qantas Wellbeing I've received since 1 November definitely counted to my new membership year, so I @transpactraveller I suspect your points may have been from your last membership year but credited this year (this is completely normal and reflects that things like hotels can take some time to credit).
