I don't think it's a question of the preferred customer.
I think QF had a number in mind for the LTP tier and based the threshold on that.
However I suspect the data inputted into the modelling would have included the unusually high number of elite status holders post-COVID.
Status keeper and other promotions meant there was no attrition for about 3 years.
It probably also over-estimated the burden of LTP members by over-estimating their future travel frequency, based on pre-COVID work travel.

With no attrition
There probably wasn’t a lot of travel either … so usage was on LOW DEMAND

Different types of data.
Membership is just a number, at a particular point in time.
Usage would need to be measured over a period of time.
So COVID would have impacted each differently.

The government has passed a lot of legislation recently to regulate campaign donations.
An important reform to avoid AU becoming like the US, where the government can be bought - and has been.
Musk has boasted of how he bought Trump a second term, and AIPAC is busy buying members of congress on behalf of a foreign state.
However the danger to democracy in AU comes from lobbyists and soft influence like this.
It's not unique to Labor - they just happen to be in Government right now.

I would be surprised if it’s due to flying. As a lowly opposition member for 15 / 25 years.

Wong and Albanese had decent stints in roles which required international travel.

It would be pretty hard to make LTP solely on domestic travel
 
Hang about - no status earn on Commonwealth business, I thought?

No the data for introducing LTP was nothing to do with modeling based on inflated numbers post Covid
LTP was announced prior to this in June 2019 and commenced in September 2019.
 
In case it's unclear to anyone from the hit piece headline - she got there by flying the 75k SC. IMO that's very different to Qantas just deciding to gift LTP to the transport minister for no reason.

Did King garner this spectacular number of status credits by catching 25 years of Qantas flights as the Labor MP for Ballarat? Or had the airline just handed the lifetime platinum card to her? A spokeswoman for King said it was the former; the minister had just flown that often with the airline. Why didn’t she just say no?l

It’s a very biased and confusing article, written that way on purpose I’m sure.

I had to laugh at the journalist trying to suggest that someone who earned lifetime status would be given a choice by Qantas whether to accept it or not.
