I've received 4 emails like this one from Qantas in the past 2 days:

I hadn't received an email like this before, so after getting the first one (and verifying that it was indeed from Qantas), I changed the PIN on my frequent flyer account. But since then I've received 3 more emails, and I'm convinced there's nothing suspicious happening with my account. One came through when Award Wallet did an account update, and the rest were all me. (I'm away from home so maybe it thinks it's suspicious that I'm logging in from a new IP address - although I did enter the 2FA code without issue when logging in.)

My question is - are these alerts a new thing? And is anyone else getting bombarded with alerts for activity that's not really that suspicious?

I can understand why these emails might be useful, but if I keep getting them several times per day I'm going to just start ignoring them.

I got one today when I logged into the app on my phone. Have previously been logged in but for some reason it had logged out.

I have been getting these for some time when logging in on a desktop/laptop. Never get anything when logging in on the app. I spoke with QFF this morning about it and was told they are aware of this, but should not be getting the notice once you have responded with "yes it was me" and use the same computer as the one used for the response. The strange thing is, I keep getting different log in locations while using the same IP address and location. I do have Award Wallet, but all my notifications have been when I log in myself and nothing via Award Wallet.

I stopped getting the e-mails and starting getting text messages. I have had 182 of them since March 2019. About 6 would be legit. I rang a few months ago but the person I spoke to was uninterested and said to keep an eye on how it goes. Maybe I should call again and see if I can talk to someone who cares.
Fortunately I have not had any suspicious activity on my account.

Edit: The texts are different in that it is a sent verification code when I haven't logged in.

So I’m wondering if anyone has come closer to understanding or even resolving this issue? I get the email EVERY time I log in now. I don’t use Award Wallet or TripIt. It’s very annoying in a ‘boy who cried wolf’ kind of way. First time, I did a password change. Now I just mainly ignore. Wonder if that is actually QF’s tactic here - so that if there ever is a genuine hack in account, you just ignore it and don’t report until you notice it, and then they say you waited too long to report. Lockdown is turning me into a conspiracy theorist 😆

which browser are you using? I get this behaviour using Chrome but not Edge on a windows PC.

I get these every time I log in from a different computer to the last login. I last logged in at home, so when I log in at work, I'll get this new login email. Then I can login in multiple times at work with no email. Then if I log in at home, new email.

The computer details are listed the same, so what I really don't understand is why they can't just recognise that the triggering login relates to 1 of 3 computers that I always use. The third computer is the phone, and yes when the login expires of the phone, i often get an email when I login again.

I don't use any of those award wallet things... No need with covid.
