It would be for my sister and her daughter. I can see that it has to be used in one transaction and any unused amount is forfeited.
Thing is, $450 for a short domestic return hop in some cases can almost pay for two people in the one booking.
Looking for a way to not waste it, or part of it.

Without looking up the wording again, it would be interesting to see if they let you book for 2 pax. Let us know what they say.
It can also be put toward an international flight.

I haven't used it that way myself, but I can't see any reason why not; relevant wording as far as I'm aware:

2. You may only use the $450 Qantas Travel Credit for one travel booking for eligible Qantas flight(s) each anniversary year online at americanexpress.com.au/travel. Eligible Qantas Flights are flights with a QF flight number.
4. You may only use one Qantas Travel Credit per booking, even if you hold multiple American Express® Cards with a travel credit benefit.
7. Any flight(s) booked using the Qantas Travel Credit are subject to the Qantas Conditions of Carriage which can be found at qantas.com/travel/airlines/conditions-carriage/global/en. Qantas Travel Credit bookings are also subject to the airline terms and conditions, and may incur change or cancellation fees from the airline and American Express.
10. The Qantas Travel Credit must be used in good faith and cannot be sold or otherwise transferred for value. The Qantas Travel Credit may be forfeited if we reasonably determine that you are seeking payment, compensation or other value for your Qantas Travel Credit.

So it can be used for more than one flight but only for one booking.

I think it was 18 months from memory. But I could be incorrect

My understanding was that the 18 month period was for qualification of any AMEX sign on bonuses, not restricting you from successfully applying for another card (without sign on bonuses).

$4.5 doesn't actually seem like a lot to me at the moment. I have $13K to spend in 3 months with the combination of new cards that I have. Half way through the period I'm at about $8K and running out of ideas as to how to spend the rest of the money in the next 6 weeks. When your council rates, insurances, gas bill, water bill, phone bill etc are all paid 12 months ahead and you have all the WISH and Coles gift cards that you can use for the next 12 months, what else is there to spend money on?

DR, a few big nights (hangover style) will solve the problem. :)

Alternatively (jokes aside), there is also XMAS just around the corner, so that is one option... or extend your gift cards backlog for another 6 months (while you wait out your next 18 months exclusion :) )

I'm off to Canberra for a couple of nights.

Was stunned by the number of places in the ACT that are part of small shop. Looks like I'll have no problems now :)

If I buy a lotto type ticket at a newsagent as part of shop small, does the newsagent generally show it as gambling, and is that even a problem for Amex in shop small? With any luck it will just say, 'X newsagency'.

Hi, has anyone ever had issues signing up using a referral link and NOT being eligible for the 100k/120k points offer. Reason I ask is because all referral links lead you to the 65k points offer page.

It seems that the offer as per the title of the thread finished on that date. If you had used any referral, that offer would have come up as you clicked through. It was stated clearly, hopefully you got a screen shot of that for future ref with any issues with Amex?

So you're saying that if I get the card via referral, I'm not suppose to get the full points?

I'm saying you get whatever points it shows on the offer page when you apply. At one point the offer was 120k via referral or no referal, Now the offers differ. clicking through without a referral show 120k on offer until nov 18, with a referral only shows 65k.
