I think this is interesting, given it provides some insight into the direction the airline is taking with their forward schedule of travel etc. I think they're really starting to prepare staff for not coming back at all...

IT News said:
Qantas put dozens of staff, including some of those furloughed as a result of Covid-19, through a two month ‘crew in the cloud’ training and certification program with Amazon Web Services.

The program, which ran over eight weeks in March and April, trained up 80 staff in cloud skills, with the aim of creaing cloud fluency across the airline and possible future career pathways.

Sounds like the colouring in marketing department is working over time. "cloud skills" and "cloud fluency". This seems more like a fluff piece to build PR than anything remotely practical.

Looks that way. I assume they were paid during these courses, so I guess they have at least benefited from the inter-action with each other for a couple of months. Not sure if it will make them better pilots, engineers or cabin crew though.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Judging from the AWS website, it looks like Amazon want to supply "cloud" (that is, Amazon servers) data storage, amongst other things, for the world's businesses and whoever else. Just imagine it...what happens when the cloud gets hacked?

Considering the US government uses AWS I'd say there would be above average security measures in place. In saying that nothing is impenetrable however your data would be relatively safe from attackers in the Amazon cloud.

I’m sure you‘re correct. Especially as it’s extremely unlikely that any were “pilots, engineers, or cabin crew” in the first place.
