Isn't competition great?

Interesting that Virgin Australia has been offering a mattress and duvets turn-down service since they started long-haul flights and even offers duvets and fitted sheets on the new Domestic A330s! ;)

So you can't buy duty free, and you can't go to the toilet because of the massive queues? Don't worry! you can now just sleep over it!

Funny - I must have missed these massive queues whilst being on the new config at the end of last month;)

I agree it's a step in the right direction, sure!

But customers flying on a QF A380 one way in J and then an EK A380 in J...

In future they will be booking EK.....
different strokes for different folks...i find the EK interiors OTT..something out of 'pimp my ride'!! :D i like the simple clean uncluttered QF product...just my opinion

Qantas J class: mattress and duvet - have you been offered yet ?

Hi all,

Have anyone here seen this first hand yet?

If yes, is that an improvement over the bare-seat option?

If no, when would that be coming to J ?

The QF media release did not say when, only "soon".

Would this be available for reconfigured 747 3-class or just A380s ?

My back would love any improvement over the bare-seat bumps.

Thanks

Nothing to do with my heavy feet.

On my last A380 flight I extended to bed mode whilst standing... The feet section was good 6" below the horizontal.
A lot of previous passengers with big heavy feet :p

Some entrepreneurs should quickly design an inflatable 'block' to be marketed to the heavy-feet J travellers

i'm banking on a 'mid-end nov' intro...from what i've read, my interpretation is that ALL skybed a/c (a330/a380/747) doing international flights will receive the mattress/duvet etc...

Re: Qantas J class: mattress and duvet - have you been offered yet ?

I've just noticed on the QF website, the following:

Skybed

Whether you’re relaxing, working, being entertained or sleeping, your comfort is our priority. Enjoy a new level of intelligent seating with our award-winning Skybed.*
Once you’ve made use of our extensive storage space, shift your seat into a position that suits you, using a wide range of seat adjustments. You can explore the seat’s unique massage options or settle in to enjoy your own personal inflight entertainment. You might just want to flick on your reading light and snuggle into your Skybed cocoon with a good book.
When you’re ready to sleep, convert your Marc Newson-designed, second generation Skybed into a two-metre, fully-flat bed.

From 8 November 2012, enjoy our new sleep service on QF107 and QF108. Sleep more comfortably with our new mattress and duvet and request a turndown service in the lounge or when you board. You’ll also be able to sip on a new T2 Wellbeing Tea to encourage sleep.

It's on this page

I'm on QF107 tomorrow ex SYD, so looks like I'll be one of the first to experience this. I will report back.

Great news - with a confirmed date

However, is there any reason why QF specifically mentioned only QF107/108 and not others such as QF11 etc...?

Only offered to 744s ??

Odd if that is the case as the Mk II beds are the same on both.

Re: Qantas J class: mattress and duvet - have you been offered yet ?

Is there a published schedule on when different flights will get these enhancements, can't find anything but maybe someone else is better at digging

I suspect it's because they are rolling it out gradually. The original press release indicated that it would happen mid-November - maybe 107/108 are just the first to get it. I'm back on QF16 in a couple of weeks, so I'll advise if it's on there too.

I have just noticed that QF updated their website to mention QF107/108

Strange

Maybe they didn't mean it for the A380's...

But like you said the seats are exactly the same on the new 744s and A380's

I was advised by the QF11 FA on 8 Nov that QF107 / 108 are the first to be rolled out.

A380s would have their share in Dec, he claimed.

BTW, the seat droop is quite noticeable on QF 11 J seats but personally I did not fall to the floor.

Cheers

Re: Qantas J class: mattress and duvet - have you been offered yet ?

QF107/108 to start. Other flights will be introduced gradually to ensure a smooth rollout with all flights around December.

The new product is quite nice. No more grey trays. If you eat in the lounge, you can let a lounge host know you want to go to sleep, they advise the crew then after take off a crew member can help make your bed. New mattress and dooner. The dooner is quite large so you can sleep on it and have it over you at the same time for even more padding. Menu is more flexible. On Asia to Australia flights a more simple breakfast service that takes less time to serve, allowing more time to sleep.

Can't wait for my December trip to LHR and back in JAN, should be good!
