FT.com / UK - Qantas to make further cost cuts
The top brass at Australia's Qantas snapped to attention last week when the airline industry's main international trade body published grim figures for high-paying customers.
The International Air Transport Association found that premium traffic in Asia fell by 23.4 per cent in January compared with the same month last year, traffic across the Pacific was down 24.7 per cent, while the South Pacific plunged by 28.5 per cent.
Peter Harbison, executive chairman of the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, an industry consultancy, says the "horrific" figures are made worse by coinciding with rising competition between Qantas, United Airlines, Delta and V Australia, as well as additional capacity on routes between Australia and the US.

whY may be full but J/F is where the money is !
The USA routes are such a bargain right now its crazy, i am sure it wont last forever, but for sure some will have to reduce capacity to keep things profitable.
