This doesn't appear to made to into the Travel News (I had a quick look - maybe it's old news and everyone already knows?)

About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases

It's a shame it's not going to happen until after my flight to LA next month! At least my return leg in August is on an A380 ...

I guess it was expected. Glad they’re increasing services at an airport where INT-DOM-INT transfers are easy though :)
