Yay! I finally received a reply to my EOI.

Has anyone been approved when using a print up of your activity from the Velocity site together with a screen shot of the name, Velocity number, tier and review date on the left hand side of the My Velocity page?

Hi Zinger - i would reccomend going to the status activity page, filtering out status earning activity only, then opening up the drop down at the top right hand side of the page with your initials, status and velcoity number. Select Print Screen with it all open or do it over two separate screenshots if the screen is not big enough.

Hopefully this will be adequate.

The thought of losing lounge access at my home airport of Cairns was what tipped me over to the other side.

It was a charming one, too. It's been a death by a thousand cuts for me, but mostly I just don't have an excuse not to do it with this offer now, so I'd respectfully disagree with the original commenters who suggested this would fizzle out. Still awaiting my EOI response.

VA's Cairns lounge was by far one of the most pleasant lounges anywhere with fantastic views and the most helpful and delightful staff.

The prospect of waiting at the gate with several hundred members of tour groups is something I would happily avoid.

Something for their own (VA) elites? I feel it is a bit late for VA to offer anything to its loyal members - as a VA WP their communication has been non-existent. I think it is a very smart move by QF.

I would have thought that Velocity's offer would be a status match for QF elites wanting to join VA (but I doubt many would be interested)

Looks like VA's response has now been revealed: Discover Velocity Gold and Status Rewards

Some quite nice perks for existing Gold and Plat members based on making some qualifying flights prior to 31 March 2021:

• 1 flight gets your existing status locked in until 31 March 2022
• 2 flights gets you a 5,000 mile bonus
• 3 flight earns you a tier-specific benefit:
  - for Gold, complimentary Economy X upgrades (duration of this benefit not clear)
  - for Plat, the ability to use complimentary plat upgrades on any fare (apparently until 31/3/21 but I can't help thinking that's a typo, and should read 31/3/22).

They've also announced a gold status match/challenge for Qantas gold FFs.

Not a bad response... but perhaps too little too late.

I agree, it was a lovely lounge - particularly for such a leisure-orientated destination. Much better than it needed to be... and in many ways a much nicer lounge than my home base of SYD, which I find poorly designed and very uncomfortable. But I love the premium entry and at least it's a place for a quick coffee and snack, so rest assured I'm happy it's reopening...

Also have to agree with the comments on the Cairns Lounge. By far my favourite in the VA network, a huge shame to see it go.

That's disappointing. I submitted last Thursday and still haven't heard back. It seems based on the experience of others that they're not necessarily working in order of receipt, unless they're simply not contacting those they're not extending the offer to?

I'd hope that they would send out some sort of response if I didn't qualify. Pretty poor from them if they don't. In the meantime I'll sit here and wait patiently, the bulk of my work travel now delayed until early next year anyway.

Interesting. I submitted the EOI late on Thursday night and received the response Monday afternoon. Was surprised how quick the turnaround was.

I just checked my history and it was actually late Friday afternoon not Thursday in my case, but still, interesting. Perhaps the airline you're matching from is also relevant. Who knows?

I do have a number of upcoming bookings next year and am a Points Club member (granted, thanks to a generous credit card bonus) so had assumed that I'd be a reasonable candidate to finally switch over exclusively to QF, but we'll see. I'll admit, if they don't ask for more details to at least even consider me, I won't be super impressed and will probably go even more out of my way to instead stick with NZ and Star Alliance when life returns to normal (not that they care).

Could be the airline you're coming from. Potentially even things like whether you selected primarily travelling for Leisure or Business and if you entered a company name.

...or they could be working through them almost at random who knows

this is what i did and i was knocked back saying i did not meet the eligibility criteria! even though i absolutely did

have replied asking what it is exactly that they believe i did not meet
