Still blocked at T-42.

Called again, Johannesburg based rep advised 31B is blocked as 31A is travelling with an infant. I'm guessing that might be the same as 31D/F.

He said he'd put in a "request" for 31J - is this a thing? I asked how long it would take to hear back, his words were "it could be 30 minutes, it could be 3 hours, it could be at the airport". Sounds fishy.

We’re flying to/from HKG in a few weeks in Y. Both QF G.
Cannot select seats beyond row 29. Is this what you are referring to?
Or have all the seats in front been taken out by fellow and higher status holders who wish to endure 8hrs in Y also 😅

Odd situation. My parents are flying PER-SYD in J on Tuesday. They're NBs. They;re in 3A and 3C. EF shows this

Yet when trying to select a seat on QF, they get this

Any ideas what's going on here?

Im guessing higher status passengers have yet to select their seats? I know international seats open up at t-80 but on domestic I thought the seats only open up once OLCI opens (so T-24).

658 is only showing J3 C3. I suspect @Lynda2475 is on the mark there. The first two rows are being "held" by higher status pax without assignments. Seems a bit odd, but given that clearly mire than 3 are booked in that cabin it is the only thing that makes sense. Plus parents are a block if two. I suspect a solo pax would have more options.

I bet that CL or P1 in row 1 will lose their shadow.

T-80 should apply to domestic also.

My recent experience especially in Y is that no better seats open up for me on Domestic at T-80 (i.e. rows 4 & 5 not available) but once OLCI opens row 4 & 5 become available, but I usually stick with 6 as that usually means a shadow. It may just be a coincidence that there were P1 and WP pax that have yet to choose seats before check-in.

Interesting. I wonder if this points to a change in general.

Regardless, the low availability still points to a potential reason for the lack of ability to move out of row 3 - though it does seem a bit odd and only T-24 would explain it.

Guess they will know tomorrow.
