Hi,

If I travel from AU on an American Airlines Ticket via Qantas flights in AU and over to the US (ADL --> LAS) are there any traps in terms of status point collection, lounges etc?
It's a long story but the company is American ......
The booking in a 'V' class ticket.

As far as I can tell I'll still get the 140 status credits and lounge access via reciprocal rights...

Cheers

It doesn't matter who issues the ticket, what matters is the airline you are booked on and the class of travel

V is a discount economy class so would earn 45SCs from AU-US each way plus the domestic AU flight plus US domestic fligh

If you are booked on the QF flight number , then you will earn full miles

If you are booked on an AA flight number, then you will earn only 50% miles

OK - not so bad - SC's are probably more important than miles anyway for me...
They are all AA flights.....

If they are all AA flight numbers (ie. AA codeshare on QF metal, or AA metal), and status is important to you, then you'd probably be better going for an AA Platinum Challenge. Read al about it in this Wikipedia...
