Qantas Status Credits for Air Pacific O/D upgrade

I know Air Pacific offer paid On Departure upgrades but does any one know if you get business or Economy SCs?

Also anyone know roughly what the cost would be for an upgrade from SYD-NAN?

My guess would be credit for the original booking class.

Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by an airline other than Qantas.

Well I just flew Sydney-Nadi-Apia and you do get SC on payed on departure upgrades. They have posted, though I had to send QANTAS a email about the SYD-NAN flight as it showed as a complimentary upgrade but that was fixed.

It was AUD$400 for SYD-NAN for 60 extra SC and a seat up front. For NAN-APW it was FJ$200 which for 45 extra SC and a business seat which seemed good value even though only a 2 hour flight.

You just need to go to the service desk and ask. Air pacific do it for all flights if seats available.


And if it doesn't post properly all you need to do is email QF FF.

Sometimes Air Pacific offer a discounted Business ticket. I suppose if there was a lot of demand for economy but little for Business you might get one of these for about $450 more than full economy. But generally the cheapest economy SYD-NAN is about $185 (exc taxes) and the cheapest Business is $829 (exc taxes) making a difference of $644. The difference between the cheapest economy and the normal Business class is over $1,000. Anyone know if you can get an O/D upgrade if you are ticketed QF on an Air Pacific flight? Cheers

I've been able to do it when booked as QF392 (NAN-SYD) with no hassles. I simply went to the business class check in and asked if there were any paid upgrades available. FJ$400, and posted as business with 80SCs.

On QF391 (SYD-NAN) I was checked through from CBR so had to ask airside. I was quoted ~AU$1000. I didn't bother as I was on United metal and had a seat in "Economy Plus" with a blocked seat next to me (two of us - the check in agent in CBR put us in A and C with B blocked).

This was in February 2009.
