I think it's today-new, might take some time to be widely visible on the internet. Even the link "Learn More" of the ultimate card has the old offer (55k points, no sc)

Qantas is offering more and more SC on the ground. Very recently, 10 sc with BP (seems to be a WP only offer), and now (today?) 3 more SC earning credit cards: NAB, Q Amex Ultimate, and Q Amex Premium, in addition to the already available ANZ black and Q premier cards. Prior to that, a few SC to earn at woolies, BP, and qantas luxury hotel.

I can see this trend of offering ground SC, seems like an easy way to monetize SC in the hope that Frequent Flyers close enough to requal (thanks to Status keeper and Status seeker), will jump through the various hoops to collect their missing SC. It certainly worked for me, but I am an easy monkey to train, and my requal target was at arm's reach.

Are credit card sign ups the only currently available ground SCs? Doesn’t help with the 4 flight requirement if that turns out to be needed.

AFAIK, at this time, it's only credit cards, and 10 SC at BP when earning 100 points. The BP offer seems to be only for WP (was in the WP newsletter)

I think the 4 flights requirement remains achievable for FFyers currently in Australia. Melbourne is getting better, should get some flight options between now and end of March.

As noted in previous posts it's not just Victorians who can't fly anywhere. There are still borders closed (Tas, WA) and partially open (NT, SA, Qld) and those shift almost daily (see today's commentary by QLD they may rethink NSW border open after new unknown community transmissions in NSW). This is a moveable (uh) feast of changes and you really can't rely on with any certainty. Even the NZ "bubble" comes and goes.

With all of this in mind I can't see how QF can't continue *some sort* of support for flyers.

Heck even the Federal Budget worked on International borders not re-opening until 2nd half of 2021...

While obviously yes there are more open routes and opportunities, specially for those in places like QLD, NSW(for now) and the NT, it could all change next week, next month and next year and of course it's still but a tiny fraction of the usual flying and trips as per normal.

Me I know they will do more. I am not worrying too much about it in any case since frankly I ain't going anywhere anytime soon (sniff) so it's somewhat irrelevant at this point (to me, anyway). First things first....

There may well be further support with monthly credits or reduced threshold, but I very much doubt we’ll see blanket extensions like we saw earlier in the year. At some point you have to fly.

The Victorian Premier needs to say it will be open by Christmas, as this provides people with short-term hope and buy-in to the lockdowns.
We see similar messaging in other countries. It's a lie.

According to new reports, Australia won't open til late 2021.
It's time to forget about status credits folks. We all need to find a new hobby!

As someone in Melbourne there’s very little chance I’ll be flying before May next year (my renewal). My flying is predominantly international with a bit of domestic reward flights thrown in.

With no international and the fact I can drive being far easier I doubt I’ll step foot on a plane in a while.
The SCs on the ground are all good except for those who cannot get credit cards (so you can’t just make requalification depend on being 18+ with a 50,000+ annual income).

As I said earlier, an extension costs them nothing, especially when most wouldn’t have used the benefits (lounge mainly) in the entirety of 2020 and brings goodwill to the company by the FFers

There are flights I could take, but I would not be interested in paying $1,200-$2,400 for four flights just to requalify. Different if I wanted to holiday alone in Broome or Exmouth, but I don’t. Losing status for lack of flying is real for many former frequent flyers. Happily I can wait until this time next year to take those qualifying flights, so can visit friends where I want to fly to.

If I do lose WP for lack of SC, I will fly business class internationally anyway and also use other airlines. So I agree, gifting another year of status costs QF nothing but will retain my loyalty and, more importantly, my dollars.

I guess I can post that. Got my Boost SCs on 1 Oct.

I also managed to fly BNE-LRE-BNE in late Sept, so re-qualified for WP off my own bat. Spent all year without travel (last flights were in Dec 2019) on 1180 SCs.

I'm surprised that Qantas haven't introduced more opportunities to earn SCs on the ground as with flying being reduced they need to tap every potential revenue stream. In particular I thought they might have extended and expanded the offer of SCs with some bookings through Qantas Hotels.

I think they should have looked at perhaps offering a small number of SCs with purchases of Qantas Points as that might be an indirect way of bringing in revenue now for future travel.

Unfortunately for me though as I'm based in Europe it is unlikely that any offers on the ground to earn SCs will be available to me, and I'm also unlikely to be able to get the 4 QF flights.

I can't help but think that today's announcement from Bain will not result in much generosity for grounded status holders from QF going forward

If QF doesn't provide more support I'll have little incentive to fly more than I need to this membership year.

A few interstate trips earning 10SC each way isn't going to lead to retaining Gold let alone getting back to Platinum.

I'd like to fly QF to the UK in the middle of 2021 but it doesn't seem likely that they'll be flying there again then.
