Qantas Status Credits Boost

Given travel patterns/frequency is likely going to be changed for quite a significant time (years), then getting to LTS, LTG is going to be made extremely more difficult for the vast majority. For that reason alone I am not surprised these free SC's provided count toward Lifetime tiers.
Indeed. Though with travel drastically reduced so will the short term benefits of the Lifetime Status as the benefits are tied to travel.

If the borders had been open and QF flying I expect I would have done a couple of long haul international trips this year on QF. The status credits boost is a lot less than what I would have got from flying but then I would have had to pay quite a bit to do those flights.

Qatar hit 103,000 total infections on July 11. Call me sceptical but I highly doubt everyone infected at that date is now fully recovered.
Your 11 July count of 103k cases includes February, March, April, May, June sick people. Most of them have recovered, and some are gone 🙏. Currently, there are 3271 active cases, and the situation is evolving toward the end of the first wave in this region.

To go back on topic, like everyone, I am glad I got the boost, and status support. I am pretty sure I will requalify (March member), I still think this boost + support is not enough for many members (I can't imagine how P1 will get their missing 900 or more SC to requalify without international flights), and I still think we might need more help in 2021, at least for the March -> July cohort, assuming international flights resume decently in July 2021. But who knows how the world will look like in 12 months from now 🤔

I tend to agree. I think they've just kicked the can three months down the road. I think in Sept/Oct they will revisit it and make decisions based on where things look like going at the time.

Agree. eg StatusKeeper is up till Sep 2020. Almost guaranteed there will not be a significant change to travel then so I can see StatusKeeper payments being continued perhaps till at least November or December.

QF will definitely be reassessing on a regular basis and the mechanism of StatusKeeper payments actually makes a bit of sense to enable this and keep things (kind of) fair.

(I know some will disagree)

I'm LTS so it's a moot point. My only goal is the 690 SC's I need to achieve LTG. So they'll kick the can along the road towards it (along with any flying I do whilst my double yolker is still in play)
I’m shy around 1000 SC’s for LTG, I hope not to be very far behind you. ;-)

Does this indicate there won’t be any double status credits offers in the next year or so since everyone essentially got DSC?

On the flip side, everyone’s status expiry date is different so there will be some people who have moved past their “50% year”, and they might also want to entice people up a tier.

I wouldn’t discount DSC promotions, I suspect QF will want as many bums on seats as they can muster

'But' .. what? We 'all' (or many of us) have had trips cancelled that would have done wonders for our status. QF are boosting everyone 'as we stand'. This boost was something no-one saw coming, so good on 'em.
Hi Rooflyer ,

So when are these SC meant to land . I still haven't seen anything for either of us ... my rollover is December? Mrs Popeye is August

The SCs will be in your account in your new membership year. So January and September.

It all hinges on your anniversary date. The best explanation is here:

I've got an end of Feb anniversary, so my status credit boost (50% of Plat requal, 600SCs) won't arrive until March 2021 (ie so I benefit in my 2021/22 year). I won't get any status credit support (but I did get the maximum benefit of the year status extension); but those who it applies to, are getting it now.

It's in the document linked several times already, starting on page 3.

I was wondering what members think of the difference between Feb and March members, assuming international and domestic travel has resumed to a fair level mid-2021.

  • March get the boost plus 6 months of support, which makes 2021 requalification somewhat possible (ok, it's harder if you live in Melbourne, or abroad), and helps for the Lifetime tally.
  • Feb only get the boost, but it will land in March 2021, given them a good head start at requalifying for 2022.

Who is better off in your opinion?

Question for a person who is easily confused from the all the various things QFF are doing.

I am an Oct-20 membership year end. I am assuming my status has been extended (even though it does not say Oct-21 on the website) as it shows me earnings towards a higher tier rather than re-qualifying for my existing tier.

What and when am I to expect in terms of these SCs?

Thanks in advance!

Check your digital membership card on the Qantas app - it will say 2021.

When your new membership year starts (Nov) you will receive half the SC required to retain your existing status level, e.g. 125 for Silver, 300 for Gold, 600 for Plat, 1800 for P1.

Feb by a mile!

March members missed out on the 12 month extension, so if you're a March member you need to earn any remaining SCs by March which is likely to be challenging given QF have cancelled all int'l flights until then. So in my specific case, whilst QF will have generously (based on current status boost) have given me 2,700 SCs, I will still somehow need to earn 900 SCs by 31 March to requalify for P1 - pretty tough given majority of my SCs are earned on int'l flights.

Let's compare that to someone in Feb who received an extension to Feb 22. They will receive the 50% status boost in March 21 and then in theory (if flights are starting to resume by then) have the full 12 months to make up the remaining. So a P1 will be given the 1,800 and then have 8-12 months to earn another 1,800 which isn't insurmountable (again assuming flights do resume by mid next year.
