Thought I would see what the other Frequent flyers have to say about this. Seems like another tradition is gone. Not to mention a little kick from PR at Kirin/Lion Nathan and QF to help!

The trend in the States is for airlines to start serving craft beer. Looks like QF are trying to raise the bar.

Never touch VB or Crown, so quite happy to be honest!

Bring on more 150 Lashes I say :p

Sad to see Fat Yak go through :(

Yes I was caught out a little while ago when I asked for my usual Crownie and was told that they don't have it any more. But that was more habit than anything and once this old dog taught himself some new tricks I find that I really like trying all the various new beers that are out there now. Makes me realise what a waste it was just sticking to the old ways - proves that change can sometimes be good for you.

I always respect the Irish to make the correct decision in respect of grog and I will manage with whatever they want to dish up but I do feel that it is a touch of elitist BS mixed with an acceptance of current beer fashion trends but it would certainly not be about taste or quality.

I think you might find QF have a new exclusive supply deal with Lion Nathan.....

I am with you on having the opportunity to try something different. I am not really a VB or Crown Lager person if there is something else available. This probably is a 'positive enhancement'.

James Boags Premium is the most popular beer drunk in the Qantas Club at Melbourne Airport. Little Creatures is the top tipple in Perth; Coopers the beer drinker's choice in Adelaide; xx_X at Brisbane; and Hahn Super Dry in Sydney.

While I don't mind Boags I put it in the same spectrum as Crown - ie a premium lager.
Love Little Creatures Pale..

but seriously a low-carb beer in Sydney, and imho one of the worst of the low-carbs, albeit Peroni Leggera is really bad

Looks like I am in the minority. I am a beer drinker so I much prefer to drink a beer I can have a session on. I just find that with a lot of the craft beers (regardless of origin) I can only face up to a couple & then I am looking for something that is less of an "assault on the taste buds". I guess it is like I see more of the "younger" people at the local club drinking cider. Mind you I am just a country boy!
