Qantas Salt & Pepper Squid thread

My first, first experience.
Have to say, pretty impressed with the whole deal. There’s about 12 people in the joint.
Hello Melbourne.

Just departing HKT @ 4:10pm and heading for SIN. Looking forward to having some for dinner in the F lounge, as well as a few other treats, before heading for MEL on JQ8

I’m sure Qantas (Sofitel) would like to think their S&P Squid is near identical in lounges (even though it’s not), but I think there’s a sure fire way to determine whether the squid is specifically from the MEL FCL. Just look for the heavy blue tint in the picture - the lounge’s windows sure change the lighting experience unlike anywhere else IMHO.

Do you seriously think that it's not frozen - in any of the FLounges?
Honestly, no idea, but it tasted a lot more frozen-y (for lack of a better description) than I've had at Sydney, Melbourne, or Singapore.

When in MEL F lounge recent I actually asked server if the squid QF used was fresh or frozen. She said she would ask the chef. She reverted to my table and said today it was "fresh squid which chef had sectioned, hand breaded in batches and deep fried to order..." 🤔 couldve been bs but it was tender and not overcooked and thats all I cared about tbh. Maybe freshly thawed?

SIN F Lounge this evening. The sauces are good but I can’t help but wonder why this is so talked about? It’s not bad but IMO nothing that can’t be pulled out of a box from the frozen section at coles and zapped in an air fryer.

That’s what some peeps speculate! 😂

But when done well, it’s a simple but delish dish.

Yeah, there are good examples and not-so-good examples and post covid the latter seem to have increased. Visually, I'd give yours 6/10.
