Is this partnership officially dead?
No idea about redemption seats but even more confusing is I can't spot a single Bangkok airways cash option with QF flight codes.

There are some limited options to coughet, Chiang Mai etc but these are on PG codes instead of QF codes like they were pre pandemic.

Does anyone remember back in June 2019 when Qantas announced you would soon be able to redeem points for Classic Flight Reward seats on Bangkok Airways?

I realise that covid has happened in the meantime, but there didn't seem to be any movement on this even before the pandemic. It's still not an option yet.

Ha! Did you see the 'selection of benefits available when booking a QF codeshare on Bangkok Airways' table? Exactly 'zero'. (well, you can request a vegetarian meal.)

I could see some benefits for points redemptions to Koh Samui where PG has the monopoly and fares can be very high. Can't anticipate many benefits, fare wise, to more popular destinations like HKT where competition is fast and furious.

The only benefit is further down where QF Gold and above can access Bangkok Airways lounges when on PG operated but QF marketed flights (plus the Qantas lounge in Singapore, and partner Miracle lounge in Bangkok).

What isn't very clear is which lounges QF status holders can access, is it the Blue Ribbon or Boutique lounge? Bangkok airways has two types of lounges, the Boutique which is accessible to all passengers (even those on the cheapest economy ticket) featuring basic snacks whereas the Blue Ribbon lounges have hot food, alcohol and toilets/showers more akin to a business class lounge.

Update: Qantas says this is still happening but that the implementation has been delayed by COVID.

Qantas and Jetstar resumed flights to Thailand last week, but there is no indication yet as to when this will start.

Same as the KLM/AF partnership for awards and reciprocal benefits.

These were also supposed to occur long before Covid.

Hmmm… the bits that were advantageous to QFFF - the reciprocal awards - were implemented. The bits that weren’t advantageous - the reciprocal benefits - seem to be delayed.

It appears it is now open for sale .... eg 10000 points + 100THB Bangkok - Koh Samui and other PG destinations

It was showing up over a month ago if you searched SYD-USM
The reward points price option only went live today >> That is my example and what this thread is about

What you would have been looking at was a commercial fare in points and not a reward seat .. and that has been live since before covid >>

Good to see.

Looks like award seats are available in Y only.

Do PG offer anything other than Y Cabin

Yes, PG has J seating. Have personally flown on them before in J a couple of times

No. I searched SYD-USM and found QF awards to PG, it was definitely live before today.

PG ATRs only have Y. Their A320s generally have a Y and J cabin but some are only Y. You need to look at the individual flights. Remember that PG have a monopoly on USM as they own the airport.

I think most PG flights post covid are economy only… some international flights appear to have business class? I didn’t find any business class in July for either HKT or USM ex BKK. Pre covid they had started to phase out their ‘blue ribbon’ (business class) service for many of their domestic flights.

The current seat maps are showing a320s as economy only, with some a319s having 2-2 business class. But there’s a whole bunch of mothballed a319s sitting on the ramp at BKK as of last week.

I have SIN-USM and USM-BKK both booked in J in Feb. The BKK-USM-BKK rotation seems to only have have J on 2-3 flights per day.

I'm unsure this is good value. PG fares in Y tend to be cheap.

I think I paid around $500AUD for 2 J fares USM-BKK.
