QANTAS has provided its biggest signal yet its Jetstar operations could service the bulk of its international routes within the next decade, after confirming half of its $9 billion order of Boeing 787 Dreamliners would be diverted to the low-cost offshoot.

The airline yesterday was forced to clarify a presentation given by its head of operations Lyell Strambi to analysts and fund managers this week, which outlined that Qantas expected to have 25 of the fuel efficient jets - with a list price of up to $US205 million each - in its fleet.

I thought that I had read somewhere that Mr Joyce has said that he was done with replacing QF sectors with JQ aircraft. I was under the impression that JQ was now focused on opening new routes.

I thought it was always likely JQi would get the 787s and give the 330s back to QF so no new news there.

I'm just not looking forward to still flying the Dom 767s through 2015/2016.

I thought i'd read the same thing, so we both can't have imagined it :mrgreen:

Yeah it was published recently in a briefing made about 3 weeks to a month ago.

Nothing in this article contradicts that... There is no mention of Jetstardisation of any routes currently covered by Qantas.

I would tend to disagree, Mal. The opening sentence lof the article refers to Jetstar potentially servicing the majority of Qantas's international routes. Yet in the thread on the future of Qantas (http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/qantas-frequent-flyer-program/future-of-qantas-20170.html), Joyce is quoted as saying:
"At various times people have suggested that Qantas is going to be Jetstar-ised. Well, no, and never. Qantas is our iconic, premium airline brand. It has enduring value. Far from downgrading our commitment to the premium status of Qantas, we are reinforcing it. Though we have cut capacity during this downturn, we have a core Qantas network commitment that will not change and stands ready to be expanded as demand requires."
