Qantas is set to announce a major change today to its travel class structure,

Since the introduction of the 787 Qantas has seen unprecedented loads in premium cabins with many noting the current business class to be as good if not better than most other airlines First class, as such this has led to a review of current offerings

In summary the changes will be along the following lines.

1) Current First class where fitted will be removed and replaced with more economy seats.
2) Business class will now be renamed as New First
3) Premium economy will now be the new Business class.

Qantas will also take the opportunity to enhance both pricing and service levels, New First will be positioned somewhere between the current business class and first class pricing with improvements in meal standards and service levels to reflect a true First class service. New Business will also see the pricing increased to sit between the current premium and business class product and pricing.

The new structure will ensure that passengers get the best soft and hard product available and will also increases yields for Qantas.

The success of the Jet Star Business class cabin and service has proven that it works well for customers and the airline and will bring more commonality between the businesses allowing each company to code share and support each other when things go wrong making the Qantas Group a true group.

Happy flying.

Lucky it's 1.4.19 or there'd be an outcry, plus they'd lose any business contacts which allow for business fares but not first.....

1.4.19 is the new 3:16?

He who falls for it must buy the first round?

Hope you all got a little laugh from this :) :) :)

I was sold until here, obviously QF would be pitching new First as a major enhancement and worthy of a price premium over current First pricing....and obviously "something our customers have been requesting"!
