Qantas reciprocal relationship with KLM/Air France (2020 onwards)

Looking at booking PER-CDG as the AF codeshare - ie flight number AF9689 with my QFF number in the booking. How does the partnership work with respect to status credits and points - will I earn similar to if I booked the QF33?

Interestingly when we flew JAL in Y from BCN to CDG to MEL via Tokyo with AF as a codeshare BCN-CDG we were able to access shared lounge in BCN and AF lounge at CDG as WP

Consistently inconsistent. There have been several instances over the years of WPs accessing the (Star member) Lounge, but others who have been rebuffed. 🤷‍♀️

When you start your booking, click on the price and the table that pops up shows details of points and status earned on each flight. However, with an AF flight number, you won't earn status credits.

I am booked CDG-PER on QF in August. Out of interest, why did you choose to codeshare and use the AF flight number?

Thanks - I didn't book it in the end. Pricing was coming up as about $2000 cheaper for the AF flight number instead of QF in J (it also included some intra Europe flights). Have found a different route

I have a heap of “codeshare” flights next month, booked through Qantas. The flights have KL, AF and IB flight numbers. I’ve done this many times in the past and received all the priorities and amenities. SCs were never expected, nor points. I am very happy that I can book these flights as classic rewards, saving myself $$$.

The IB flight is from CDG to NCE via Madrid. No direct flights as classic rewards were offered, and flights are almost every half hour.. I have nothing else to do that day, so why not enjoy some time in the Madrid lounge? 😄

I have some intra Europe flights on KLM in Y coming up. Any benefit in adding my Qf number (as Plat) to the booking? Eg seat selection, lounge access?

Yup - you'll get Sky Priority and seat selection. No lounge though I don't think.

There is a difference between booking directly with AF and booking through QF. I’m pretty sure lounge access from status only works with the latter.

Please come back here and let us know if you received any benefits with your direct AF booking.

Safest the assume the benefits only apply to codeshares… so you’d have to book those on the QF website as part of an international itinerary.

If any kf thr benefits applied to stand-alone tickets that seems to a bit of a bonus rather than a given.

Can not answer that specifically @kpc but had intra EU flight booked via KLM Y and for €100 offered upgrade to J the day before, if that is something that appeals to you.
Obviously folk don't pay the €€€ outright for Euro J but I was happy to upgrade (& spend the kid's inheritance)
