Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

will this mean that connecting passengers in SYD have a higher chance of seeing the A350 depart without them if connections run late and luggage transfer and or pax rushing are a potential delay cause?
PS would not wait because the pilots dutyclock already ticking...

Here’s an image from Airbus which shows the “simulated passengers”.
So, is PS trialling the new simpler and fairer seat belt fastened for the entire flight?

Can't it be used to boost aircraft range?. Turbine engines can technically run on any hydrocarbon.

I’m sure both the Airbus and QF PR machines will have them do that.

When I looked earlier, it was suggesting an arrival of 1 hr ahead but currently showing 50mins late.

Do we even know where it goes next and when? I wouldn’t be surprised if it heads to JFK.

Indeed, 50 mins late will give it a flight time of 19.5 hours!!! The detour over Saudi doesn’t help. I’d imagine a westbound flight would be pushing 21 hours - and LHR is an hour further.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Middle East airspace restrictions have impacted the payload capacity of this flight if it continues and if Saudi airspace becomes off limits is the flight even doable?

Meh. They can use it on MEL - SIN/ MEL - HKG. I'd kill for proper F from MEL to somewhere that was safe to travel to.
If there’s scrubbers that can seperate farts - go for it! That could be a huge saving! Every meal will include beans!
I completely misinterpreted "scrubbers" for a split second. Good Lord, did the mind boggle.

I like the idea that we’ll need to clarify what kind we’re talking about when referring to favourable winds 🤓

I

Don’t think LHR is an hour further. SYD-LHR is only ~80 miles further than TLS-MEL. Also far more likely to take a more northerly route akin to the route that QF1/2 takes (at least from India to LHR), which is a long way north of Saudi airspace.

That aside it’s showing now as landing at 10:30am, some 19hrs after takeoff.

I assume QF and Airbus know what they’re doing more than us randoms on the internet.
