I think I read somewhere that they'll be running them on SYD-SIN and SYD-LAX at first so they can stretch their legs.

Makes sense for crew familiarisation ahead of the ULH services

My understanding was it would only go on the AU - NZ routes, but that would be great if they flew to SIN & LAX

We plan to base some of our new A350-1000ULRs in Melbourne which will let us fly to international destinations we can’t reach from there today. Qantas and Jetstar currently serve 17 international destinations out of Melbourne and that number is expected to grow
