Qantas Points Club Discussion

I keep the email with the voucher details. But for some reason, not everyone gets an email…🤷‍♂️

Probably not “sneaky”, just lazy programming. They should list each voucher type like lounge passes* so you can have multiple ones.

*Lounge passes do have a hard expiry aligned to member year, so it is one out, one in if not used.
I got the benefit e-mails earlier on after PC began, but haven't received the vouchers via e-mail in the last couple of years. I get hardly any QF comms, including DSC offers and the WP Newsletters... just the flight sale e-mails. This is even though I've cleared and re-checked all the communication options a bunch of times. Thankfully I have AFF to keep me informed!

After many months those original emails with the codes definitely get lost in my mailbox.

While QF may be doing the right thing with the last minute reminder email, I'd rather the constant visibility on the My Account and be able to use the vouchers first in first out

My 2.5k points still not included in either my overall points total or PC total. They look like Claytons points ... you know the points you get when you are not getting points.
My totals have now been updated. Sadly no 'bank error in your favour' update to my lifetime sc total.

I have 2 trips coming up which will qualify me for SG and reduce SCs required for LTG to double figures. If the loyalty bonus had counted for lifetime status it would have reduced that requirement by more than half.

Hopefully Qantas will move the PC loyalty bonus into the correct category i.e. points earned on ground, putting them in the flights category is disingenuous
They have been put in flights category, it is disingenuous, and they don’t seem to care. A loyalty bonus that rewards those who don’t fly, and penalises those who do. Classic.

Rather silly especially given the figures aren't exactly mammoth. No plausible rationale for it at all.

Only thing I can dream up is the airline department spearheaded/funded the entire promotion out of their advertising budget, loyalty fought tooth and nail to make it as un-costly as possible - i.e. pushing the points earn into the airline category for PC/PC+, SCs not counting towards lifetime or benefiting members who didn't need or couldn't use the SCs.

Wow I hadn't noticed this until now... they were NOT earned in the air. How silly! Oh well I'm not going to make PC+ again after this renewal as no more credit card sign ups, but I should keep PC with 2 previous card offers (30,000 x 2) due to hit the account this year. And with a 20,000 transfer from QBR and credit card spend plus a few flights, I reckon I'll get to 150k.

I just got my 3 new PC+ vouchers... they emailed me the hotel one but not the 2 wines... I'm still drinking the mini bottles from last time! Thanks for heads up - I shall save the codes.

Looks like I will achieve PC+ renewal. Sitting just 670 points short of the threshold thanks to some generous WW EDR "challenges" with 3,000 QFF points converted in one smallish shop today. And still have the points from my ANZ Black card spend this month to post next week.

However, I am wondering if it really is worth crossing the PC+ threshold for my specific circumstances. I have lifetime Gold status, and not going to get to Platinum, so no benefit in extra SC roll-over nor any benefit from the Qantas Club membership. I might be better falling short of PC+ and taking the two lounge passes that I can at least gift to family & friends. While I have used the extra discount at QF Wines, its really only benefiting getting my closer to PC+ renewal.

Hmm, contemplation for next year, especially with CC sign-up bonuses being less generous than previous.

Don't forget you also get an additional $50 value on the Qantas Hotels voucher, and a second $50 Qantas Wines voucher (in addition to the 10% off)
True. The wine discounts get used ... for purchasing points to reach PC+. I find it harder to use the hotels vouchers, but have managed the last few years.

Plus 50% bonus (v 25%) on QF Hotels?

And 10% (v 5%) discount on QF Market Place - which is probably less valuable other than a few GT things.

I am sure some people make it work well to their advantage. But for my accommodation needs, which are all leisure travel these days, the times I have been able to get value from it has been limited. Last one I used for a night in Cairns where options for my primary hotel program were very limited and I was able to book a suitable property with a good bonus promo at the time.

We’re in the “leisure” travel category - usually booked months in advance. But not always.

They now have the option to pre-pay a min deposit (20%?) on refundable bookings plus they take forex risk ie you always pay in AUD.
