Qantas Points Club Discussion

Can you pre-pay your rates, health insurance, etc to gain a few extra thousand points via your credit card?
Good call, that's the current plan. Still have two monthly sweeps to work with if I time it right.

Rates might get excluded from earn (govt transactions excluded by my card) so may need to go via prepaid cards; one reason I was excited by that offer yesterday.

Good call regarding the rates although as @PaulyB says you could use a payment service (B2BPay, YakPay, etc.).

Of course the 20x gift card offers at WOW will earn Everyday Rewards points and, as you know, you would have to transfer all your points at the same time. I think prepaying health Insurance, car insurance, home & contents may be your best option. Also, look at buying some Woolies e-gift cards, especially if you have a seniors card (or know someone who has).;)

Sniip works for me to get points every time for government spend, I’m in nth Qld so even my electricity is government owned.

Just received 2000 bonus miles from a PC/PC+ promo for international flights. Anyone recall what that was? I can’t find an email but it could be upthread!

Pleasant surprise getting some bonus points along with my DSCs a couple of days after flying SYD-HNL.

Had a few things to pick up on the weekend so managed to get some store gift cards from qantas marketplace for 3x points, so i'm 1500 points on my way to the 10k target. CC monthly spend should cover maybe half of the remainder, so hopefully I can put any and all more upcoming purchases for the next two months via these gift cards to get me there.

Next year should be easier, will look to some CC sign up bonuses or similar, depending on how nerfed things get under the proposed changes.

Until a recent generous offer (now withdrawn), I hadn't realised how many giftcards with bonus points were available on Qantas marketplace. Commonest is 3 QF/$ which coupled with a credit card with bonus for QF spend could net me 5 QF/$. The Bunnings GC looks very appealing as they are not usually available via Union/NRMA/Entertainment Book sites (and only 1FB/$ at Coles)

I got those as well and can't remember the email, but I'm assuming it might have been around the same time as the domestic points offer a few months back.

It's been a good earn year, though replicating this next year will be tough, even with a 90k head start in the works (via ANZ card offer, and WOW/EDR).
Will be better if that Hotel voucher comes through before the current bonus points promo ends (not as good as triple points, but okay) - based on discussions above I'm not too hopeful.

Without churning (or loads of business expenses), that 2nd 200k for PC+ is a tough ask for most of us.

I had another biggish year closing at 270k. Through some very generous AMEX promos. I could have transferred 20k from QBR and cashed in Xmas EDRs, but would still be 50k short….

Yeah tough to attain 350k i agree.

I'm half way with Dec end of year and ~170k to go, a card churn, but 2 cards not likely. Maybe.

It would be nice if Qantas increased the benefits of PCP in light of the fact that it has become harder to attain.
If they gave the option to sub out QP for something else for existing status holders, that could entice me to get a few extra points with bonus wine.

Otherwise, PC is pretty easy and I do it for the SC earn on reward flights to keep WP ticking over.

Indeed. I would prefer to get the 2 x transferable lounge invites (that I can give to family/friends to use) rather than Qantas Club membership which get from virtue of attained Lifetime Gold status. As it stands, the only additional benefit of PC+ over PC for someone like me with Lifetime Gold status and no need of SC roll-over as I am not going to attain Plat status, is the 10% discount why buying points that come with a free case of wine.

Ditto.

In fact, for the first time (I think), my forward bookings from 01 Aug already have me retaining WP by Jan/Feb 26. So there was no need for 100 SCs rollover - the main benefit for me….otherwise.

Feb-Jul 2026 looks like a good time to burn through all my VA miles. There’s not going to be any more of those coming anytime soon!
