Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Most recent international experience:

At the MEL FLounge (flying Y), was offered a spa slot and gladly took it up.
Outbound after the lunch service, the flight attendants missed clearing our row (2nd row of Y) and by the time I realised they weren't coming back they were too far away without shouting. Understanding aisles are blocked with trolleys during clearing up, it took more than half an hour for them to respond to the call bell and were very dismissive when they finally showed up. It's annoying to be 'trapped' in the seats with trays for so long, while everyone else gets to kick back. Pretty crummy service (forget about any special recognition) and I gave them a serve in the survey email. Received a template apology from the VIP team.

On the way back BKK-SYD on Finnair, three points upgrades to J came through. At check-in, was offered an escort to security and the lounge - appreciated but didn't take it up as we preferred to slowly make our way through shopping. Fast-track security and immigration was deserted and super-fast.
On the flight, no special treatment but everyone seemed to be treated special. I couldn't help but feel the Finnair attendants were better than QF on this wet lease...
its so dependent on the crew. I flew J with Finnair to Sin from Helsinki in 2021 and was pretty much ignored after a fairly brief dinner ( 1205 am departure so maybe fair enough). On the flight out on a qantas a330 to BKK I got great service in Y with J wine. That was my last Y flight but as a day. time flight it was actually very pleasant. It's so inconsistent but my feeling is Finnair is moving downmarket although the hard product is good. You would have had qantas catering and soft product all be it with a bkk based crew for Finnair.

Received my first P1 event invite - dinner at Doltone House next Wednesday, unable to make it unfortunately :(

You’ll be guided on an exquisite, multi-sensory journey led by Doltone House ambassador chef Mark Olive – an icon of Indigenous Australian cuisine. Paired with the storytelling wines of Munda, you’ll be transported through Country, Culture and Cuisine. This exceptional experience will feature a five-course tasting menu meticulously curated by Mark Olive, with each dish drawing inspiration from native ingredients and ancestral narratives and weaving Aboriginal flavours with contemporary culinary artistry. This elevated harmony of tradition and innovation is crafted by the same team that has defined the Doltone House reputation for immersive experiences and is rooted in decades of event excellence.

2 months into my P1 membership and I've already received 2 event invites - one to the Socceroos in Canberra last month (which I accepted too late so missed out on the tickets) and last week to a Teddy Swims concert (which I can't make as I'll be overseas).

It's a shame I haven't been able to take advantage of the invites but nice to know they've been offered.

I know P1 upgrade requests can be processed 'within 7 days of departure', but is there any noticeable pattern on when they are usually processsed?

In my ~8 years as a WP, I never saw an upgrade processed before T-48 even though it's supposed to be possible from T-72 and am wondering if P1 has something similar. Sweating a SYD-HKG request for Friday (T-122) which is currently J7 C7 D6 I4.

As P1 I've had a few T-7 days upgrades, but mostly 72, 60, 48, 30, 28, 24 and 10 hours seem to be the pattern.

I find it really depends on the loadings. If seats are only available in the top bucket (F & J) then it typically comes very late. If there’s A or D, C, I then I’ve had it come through 7 days.

There is also a distinction between P1 and P1 family. I was also told once when I had a family member on a separate booking, P1 traveling has priority over P1 family and in that case I got the upgrade 72 hours before and the family member didn’t.

Thanks, I thought this might be the case - hence was a little surprised that I4 hasn't yet resulted in an upgrade at 5 days out.

Yeah that is odd. The only thing I can think of is with the recent typhoon, they could be trying to keep some flexibility for passengers that needed to be rebooked?

As a P1 with that loading, you'd feel pretty safe for an upgrade, I would have thought.
