To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

I know someone with 4,000+ status credits earned in 2022 and he only got the magazine

I have over 5000 and got both the Gin and the magazine.

Not tried the Gin yet, hope it’s nice !!!

I got over 4,500 but that included the rollover. All dom J. No long haul. Just the magazine for me. I'd say it may have been averaged over the previous few years...

Looks like QF finally fixed the "TO RETAIN PLATINUM ONE YOU NEED" calculator on status activity page. So the 1,800 rollover SC count as QF SC.

Invited to the 100 year Gala Dinner in Hangar 96 end of this month.

Was initially meant to be away but have managed to rearrange flights etc to attend.

on a very unrelated note. I was checking in at DFW a few days ago for QF with the agent who I presume was an AA employee or other contractor. She noted I was "Platinum" and offered me "congratulations on that" (the tone and look conveyed something else though. LOL). It actually was the flight to requal for P1, but there's no way she would have known that from checking me in.

I have to say the lack of domestic P1 complimentary upgrades lately in my case has been offset by an unexpected op-up to F on the LAX flight!

Bit late to post but enjoyed a recent P1 concert event invite last Friday

Also, I’ve had issues getting my welcome kit and the team have done a good job following up to ensure it’s delivery (5 months late but who’s counting)

These all go to those intangible, but still appreciated, parts of the program

Did a dash 8 Syd-Dub this week. Going out absolutely full, was able to get 2B 5 days out. Row 1 full.
Same day return, only half full and had 3B with a shadow, as did 1st 3 seated rows. Row 1 empty.

I received a new card (and AJ letter) for my February anniversary. I don't remember receiving one since pre-pandemic.

Not strictly on topic but essentially a P1 problem. Does anyone else miss the thrill of the chase? Following the excitement and hunger on the DSC thread and I have zero use for DSCs so had to take the points. What should keep us P1s engaged and excited like the hungry golds and WP wannabes

Totally agree. BA used to have the Concorde Room Card if reached a certain threshold well above their Gold tier.

Maybe Qantas should issue a CL card if you hit 7,000 or some higher threshold of SCs?

I think that’s a bit rich, is it not? Anyone on this forum would chase BA GFL before LTP unless you’re at the margins and already around 40-50k?

I’m young, and age is largely irrelevant, so have little interest in LTP given the above.

Are you LTP? Curious to hear if it’s worth the journey?
