IHG inks dual hotel signings to spark regional growth in NSW and QLD, delivering 190 rooms to key markets by 2030. IHG Director of Development Australasia and Pacific Cameron Burke reveals behind-the-scenes details of the deals and what’s driving the group’s regional expansion.
IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced two new Holiday Inn hotels in Tamworth, New South Wales, and Rockhampton, Queensland, both to be operated by La Vie Hotels and Resorts.
The signings will deliver a combined 190 rooms through the refurbishment and expansion of the existing 60-room Best Western Sanctuary Inn in Tamworth, which will complete an extensive refurbishment of its guest rooms, reception and restaurant by 2027, followed by the addition of 30 rooms to be constructed by 2029, and a new-build 100-key Holiday Inn and Suites Rockhampton, which forms part of a mixed-use precinct and features 350 sqm of conference and events space, a 100-seat function room and an outdoor swimming pool, estimated to open in 2030.
