Yes exactly the same experience here. Was told using any discount made the flights ineligible for QBR points. Tried it last week.
Trying to work out what to do with the plat gift... wife already plat, kids are gold and are looking 99% confirmed to hit plat under their own steam.
@kelea, welcome to to the P1 thread. I do not mean to sound blunt but cannot/ will not answer your question. If I read your post correctly, the first post you make is in the P1 thread asking what a 'long time lurker' could work out for him/herself out just do a status run for 35 points and please report back the findings.
BTW I am not normally this blunt however you are the first AFFer who has made their first post, as far as I am aware, in this thread asking about QF FF program questions.

esHello... long time lurker and first time poster!
I've recently made P1 for the first time, thanks to DSC promotions. I wondered if it was possible for me to still qualify for the Platinum Bonus Reward (50,000 points or gold membership for family/friend etc.) if I meet that qualifying criteria, which is to get 2400 SC from eligible Qantas or Jetstar flights?
I thought yes based on reading previous posts. But I'm not so sure after noticing that the part on the Status Credits webpage that tracked progress for the Platinum Bonus Reward, beneath the 'Loyalty Bonus' section no longer appears for me.
I am 35 SC short for the 2400 SC required from eligible Qantas or Jetstar flights. Considering whether it is worth doing a status run...
Thanks
thanks to DSC promotions.
That's a bit harsh. If you don't want to answer, just don't answer. No need for this IMHO.
Thank you JRR.Yes you can.

The question is whether DSC makes P1 qualification a bit of a joke, or whether it brings some perspective to it. Looked at rationally, are the P1 perks worth three times the flying required to retain WP? The answer to this question is entirely subjective. If you are genuinely doing serious flying, P1 makes it more pleasant. If your serious flying is domestic and not paid for by the taxpayer, DSC's make P1 possible. 3600 Sc's at 10 SC's, or even 20 SC's, a flight is a tough target.DSC do make P1 qualification a bit of a joke tbh. I mean I will requalify P1 and have just under 2000 QF/JQ "real"(bum in seat) SC) at the time (plus a bunch of OW flights which obviously do not qualify).
.
I received today an invitation to a Platinum One customer workshop at the Qantas Centre of Service Excellence to discuss ideas on “how we design and deliver our platinum one services”
Of course I’m overseas when it’s on ... boo
How about a written submission instead? I'm sure we could all help you out.
Assuming no-one else has received the invitation I’d be happy to send a written submission in if the group wants to participate with suggestions. It’s a fairly well worn path in this thread. The workshop is on the 17th of April.

This is why I think, if they continue these promos, they will either:
a) make DSC (or bonus SCs earned from promos) not count towards P1
or
b) 2700 QF/JQ SC earn to not include bonus SC's
Now they already made Loyalty Bonus SC's not count towards P1, but also bonus SC's not count towards "bonus reward" levels like 2400 PBR, or 5000+ P1BR levels so I could see either o the above occuring.
I enjoy P1 no question, but it's not as exclusive as it was. I wonder if the ranks of P1s have surged in the past year or two from the alleged 3k-5k members there were in the first few years of the program. I'd love to know.
I don't know if BA do such things and if they effect or contribute to GGL(TonyHancock??)
