To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Agree the coat hanging thing is hardly P1 or even J worthy of an announcement. But even less so when it’s botched. Two flights the other day in 717s. Coats etc taken and hung up on both. But on only one of them were they returned to passengers before disembarking. Which necessitated my travelling companion and the folk across the aisle in row 1 on the other flight having to wade back behind the J cabin to retrieve (fortunately I knew where they’d be). Didn’t delay disembarkation overall but inconvenient for the J pax.

I booked MEL-SYD-AKL in Y and after completing the booking went to MMB and was able to select row 4 SYD-AKL. I am BA GGL (P1 equivalent-ish) and have previously only been able to select at WP level, ie row 6. I wonder if this was a glitch or new recognition of status by QF/BA?

If memory serves me correctly, R4 on AU>NZ flights I thought is available for all Emeralds whereas it's only available for P1's on AU domestic routes. Were you able to select R4 on your MEL>SYD (if 737).

This is correct - with Qantas 737 International, WP can select row 4 on booking.

I was able to choose second row on the (A330) MEL-SYD.

I may well be just seeing something that isn't there.

That sounds correct. I assume you mean row 24? 23 is blocked for P1 on domestic flights so therefore what I said above holds. For domestic travel, first row of economy (rows 23 and 4) is blocked for P1 with different rules then applying for intl (e.g. emerald ability to book r4 on TT).

Definitely happy to get the ALL Platinum status offer email today. A no brainer really and I probably opined a year or more back when the ALL partnership was first announced that it would be obvious for high status members to give recipricol perks. Good to see.

What isn't clear to me is how long the status lasts.. ie is it just a year? for as long as one stays P1? Not obvious from my reading of the T&C

Unlike the Gold match which is from registration until Dec 23, it seems that we will need to stay at least one night at one of their hotels to extend the Platinum status through to 31 Dec 23
