Qantas plan to split into four

Sounds like a good plan. I guess this is one way of avoiding the risk of another takeover bid.

So a plan that is essentially the same as the plan put forward by the prior consortium is a good plan now but was a bad plan then. QF are selling off the FF program - further integrating QF and JQ (otherwise why would they merge the operations groups).

We now have smaller peices that are less public that can be further broken up or bought in toto.

I didn't see anything about QF wanting to sell off the 4 groups. By my reading if the very brief reports (and it has been through the media filter so may no longer reflect the truth or reality), the four groups would still be wholly owned by Qantas.

It the proposed structure was going to help the APA to make lots of money, then it seems to me to make sense to consider if a similar structure could also make money for a publicly listed Qantas.

I wasn't complaining about the new structure - just surprised that it was welcomed as it might lead to the same sequence of events that APA had planned.

It may very well do so - however, any such events will occur in a far more open manner than APA would have originally envisaged.

Qantas splitting their operations into 4 divisions and giving money back to the shareholders sounds a lot better than APA splitting off each arm into a separate entity with the only goal to make money for themselves. At least Qantas as a group will still be concerned how each division is performing. Now if Qantas sell off some of these divisions, like loyalty, and we end up with a raw deal, then that is a different story.

I detest all private equity, not just APA, and the millionaires factory. As far as I am concerned, and I know many do not agree with me, there is no place for them in this world. They have absolutely nothing to offer society.
