Your problem is you are transiting in Tokyo, with just under 24 hours in Tokyo. You also then have just over 12 hours in Melbourne so that is also a transit.

That means availability needs to be looked at as LHR-CBR (with transits in Tokyo and Melbourne). When looked at like that, there's no U class availability on NRT-MEL.

You can fool the system though. If availability on BA for LHR-HND and QF for MEL-CBR is still available as a new booking, get QF to delete both of those flights, add the JL flight in, then put the BA and QF flights in.

But didn't I say that I could successfully Book all those flights with the same connections with points today if I wanted to? Maybe I will respond to Chelsea and see if she can try that.

Can you take it all the way through to the payment screen? ie. where you enter CC details.

How did you enter your search on the multi city search? I'm guessing you entered it as LHR-HND, NRT-MEL, MEL-CBR, which gives you incorrect and invalid results. You must enter it as LHR-CBR and see if you get the same result.

Please read my previously entry where I explained it was from CBR and returning to CBR. I got as far as payment however I didn’t have sufficient FF points.

Your post fails to answer how you did your search, that is, what was flight 1, flight 2 etc. on the multi city search. This is key information in terms of whether you are getting the correct availability.

The flights preceding and post the desired flight were identical To those I currently have - I thought that was obvious.

You have ignored the crux of my question - I asked you specifically what you entered on the multi city search page, in each of the data inputs, in order to achieve that itinerary (the dummy test one).

You have not answered that question anywhere.

Did you enter this as each individual segment? Did you enter this as CBR-LHR, LHR-CBR? Did you enter this as CBR-LHR, LHR-HND, NRT-CBR? etc. Specifically I am wanting to know what you entered for each segment on the multi city search page, that is what was flight 1, what was flight 2, etc.

I entered CBR-LHR, LHR-NRT, NRT-CBR. I ensured I selected the adjacent flights exactly as I have booked. The flights turned out to be CBR-SYD-China somewhere-LHR, LHR-NRT on BA5, then I was able To select JL773 U

I've had the QF call centre tell me a seat isn't available and then I've gone and managed to book it online whist keeping them on the line. All they could tell me was that basically their IT system is a joke and glitches like that happen.
Yes happened to me too . Especially when booking RTW with points

OK, so it is as I suspected. The LHR-CBR needs to be treated as a single journey and it should be entered as such to get correct availability - you are transiting the entire way to CBR. Entering it as LHR-NRT, NRT-CBR tells the system you're wanting a stopover in Tokyo and thus it gives you the availability for LHR-NRT and NRT-CBR assuming you make a stopover in Tokyo (ie. > 24 hours). This is why you're getting availability that you're not supposed to be getting.

Either way, what I mentioned about fooling the system should still work. JL flight first, then the QF flight, then the BA flight in that order.
