QF 71 PER-SIN has had a flight departing about between 1200 and 1300 as long as I can recall. Though JQ and 3K have frequently (recently) been more useful when connecting to other flights on separate tickets.

Be aware that QF 71 as of 26 Oct 2025 will depart at 1030
Moe useful for Perth residents when connecting in SIN, but with a 5 hour drive to the airport, JQ will become more "useful"
Though that will mean 3 flights on Tu/Th until JQ 99 (2335) is discontinued after 25 Nov.

Hope that helps someone's wandering
Fred

I wonder why the change?

Looks like QF72 (SIN-PER) will still leave at 18:45 (arriving back in PER right before midnight), so the A330 now sits on the ground in SIN almost 3 hours.

The new QF71 schedule actually provided East Coast residents a much needed early arrival into Singapore.
QF71 now arrives SIN at 1555, and it allows connection to CX716 instead of the 8pm departure to HKG.
Those in East Coast can hop on the 6am departure ex-SYD, then connect with QF71 and will score themselves 180 SC + early arrival into Singapore - just in time for afternoon tea at Tsui Wah in Jewel.

Checking FR24 it’s not often the same plane flying back to Perth as came up. It happens on some days, but in other days a different aircraft forms the 72.

Historically the PER/BNE and MEL flights have shared aircraft often with a swap in SIN

I'm not sure what I make of this. On the one hand, getting into SIN a bit earlier is ideal, but missing out on working for the morning in PER before leaving is less ideal.

I wonder if part of the reason is to ease congestion in the PER lounge? There really is only space of a single flight worth of pax at a time.

Can't see that they care much about who and what number is in the lounge tbh. It might be that they think it is a better time to compete with the three daily SQ?...noting however that QF don't really do competition....😁

Can't see them thinking much about east coasters wanting to connect at PER to HKG either that much tbh.

There’s four SQ daily now ex-Perth.
