QANTAS allowed a Boeing B747 plane to continue operating for nine months even though it was leaking oil, an unauthorised history of the airline claims.

Hmm interesting. Book is launched today, might be worth a read :!: I don't see it selling at the book shops at the QP Lounges

Why am I NOT surprised that this "news" is being promoted on No News.com.au.
I do hope the author and publisher had their lawyers go over the manuscript with a fine tooth comb before printing it !

The author is a journo who does aviation safety stories (amongst others). Doing a search for his articles on the SMH website does show lots of articles about Qantas failings.

eg:

Air sickness - Travel - smh.com.au

I can't see the book being much more than a copy and paste of his various news articles with some additional words. Maybe I'll buy a copy f I see it at an appropriate price.

Bought this book late last year and finally finished it yesterday. An interesting read for anyone keen to know more about the history of the airline, as well as gaining deeper insight into some of the more recent events (predominantly 2007 & 2008). Overall, an enjoyable read, but nothing earth-shattering.
