You made a song and dance of returning to OOL.
The flight times dont work for business travellers.
Mondays Tues and Weds am the Virgin lounge is chocka with regular commuters who refuse to fly Jetstar.
A simple 6AM flight would nett you 50% of these flyers easily.

I highly doubt it would happen, they can't leave an aircraft there overnight.
If doing so, they would need catering, crew hotels or crew base and other things.

Hotels... well VA does OK.
catering... not sure who used to cater ex ool (did they just double cater before?) . Not sure if there is a catering supplier, but wouldn't there be the possibility of preparing in Brisbane and taking it down (or is this too wild a suggestion?) . Or have crew fly bne to ool to syd.

If the will is there, they could do it somehow. But whether it makes economic sense...

Pretty sure VA have a crew base in OOL, so no real need for hotels.
Doesn't make financial sense to cater one flight a day and set up another supplier for this (other than QF's own Q catering)
Prepping in BNE then driving down would be too much of a hassle and not really financially viable.
You mean have the a/c base in BNE then fly it empty in the morning down to OOL to operate?

They'd just about have time to get the gear up and stow the flaps before it'd be time to get them out again.... (I guess its like hopping from Laverton to Tulla...)

Have seen many a fa from virgin at a certain gold coast hotel, so thought they just overnighted. Didn't know about crew base.

And yes, my wild thought was overnight and prep plane in bne, then fly it to ool (20 mins) as a reposition. But the cost is likely not worth it.

In my experience commuting to OOL on a Sunday afternoon and returning on a Friday afternoon the Qantas lounge is full compared to the VA lounge at the same times.

A friend who is a virgin FA advised crew overnight and there is no GC based crew.

The hotel thing is a very minor issue.

As for catering yes at the moment its double catered from Sydney.

I'd love to fly the tag flight BNE-OOL but probably not more than a few times. That said, not sure why it couldn't be done.

I was thinking perhaps they should hand the job to QFLink instead, send a 717 BNE-OOL-SYD and can do the same towards end of the day to get a later leaving flight in the other direction.

Sam BNE-OOL is a pretty boring flight, I did it a few years ago when FJ were flying NAN-BNE-OOL, though its fun to say I've done it, especially in a 737.

I just want to do it to tick it off, though if it was priced well, could also be a nice stop-gap of points/SC some times. But in the broader context of no catering and crewing from OOL, the tag flight BNE-OOL-SYD on a 717 might make some sense.

BNE-OOL is a former Dash 8 route, I did it in the 1990's...

Jetstar would have catering agreements with gold coast based caterers, Qantas could set something up if they desired.

Gate Gourmet and Alpha have bases in OOL so I dont see why catering one flight in the morning is a problem, QF use GG in CNS and Alpha in CBR.

I have also done this when Oxley Airlines were doing the route to Coffs Harbour via Lismore/Casino. It was a lot smaller than a Dash 8 though

No VA crew base at OOL at lot staff live on the Gold Coast and overnight at home for what is called a Cancelled Accommodation allowance at $60 per layover

Now we are done with stupiddaylight saving even a 7am would work

A lot of QantasLink staff appear to be based on the coast too, so direct or indirect, but a 717 could be the key.

Or at the very least if this is so impossible.
Have your fully owned Jetstar operation treat frequent flyers better
Priority boarding and seating would be a good start.
