Qantas online Mall, cookies and points

Just bought some stuff on DJs. Got the order confirmation already from DJs and the Paypal receipt. How long until I get the QF Mall confirmation email?

Also with Apple, since it's so difficult to reserve one in HK I'm thinking of buying one in Australia and getting family to bring it over with TRS Refund. Is it true that Qantas Mall doesn't allow you to buy an iPhone and get any QFF?

I still haven't got one, 3 weeks after ordering.

(Actually I haven't got what I ordered either, but that seems to be because DJs Online are muppets - separate issue).

I got confirmation email from QF re points from online mall. No points yet . Got to wait 30 days.

Currently Apple products in OZ are cheaper than the USA with TRS refund . It's 5pt/$ for anything via apple store via online mall. If you can't see it in online mall it does not count as you can't buy it through the mall.
There are some things which are not in the apple internet store and/or online mall but which are available thru the physical apple stores in shopping centres

Qantas would be collecting a referral fee for the referral through an affiliate network. They then issue points to the shopper, based on the cookie which is linked to the FF number.

It's probably cheaper to divert purchases away from the physical stores. Paying points prob cheaper than paying westfield

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Be warned, if you earn too many points through Qantas Mall they may feel a need to make it 'simpler and fairer'.

As mentioned in the OP, I sent a query to the QF service centre, via the link on the mall page.

So, after 2 weeks, I get this generic response that didn't even go close to addressing my query which concerned cookie tracking and paying within 'secure browser windows':

Thank you for contacting The Qantas Club and FrequentFlyer Service Centre.

If you met all the essential requirements for a QantasMall purchase you should have received an email from Qantas confirming asuccessful purchase. If you didn't receive the confirmation email, it's mostlikely that your transaction is ineligible or the confirmation email has beenfiltered as junk or spam by your mailbox. In this case, please check your junkmail and spam folders.

If you'd like to know more, please visitqantas.com/frequentflyer or call The Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer ServiceCentre on 13 11 31 (8.00am to 7.00pm AEST/AEDT Monday to Friday). If callingfrom overseas visit qantas.com/contactfrequentflyer or call +61 (2) 9433 2329.

Kind Regards,

Simply pathetic.

I called QFF the other day regarding me receiving 5 points per $ with David Jones rather than the advertised 10 points per $.
The agent logged an email to the relevant department on my behalf and said she would call me back with the reply.
Waiting for the call.....

Did a few purchases through eBay in Nov and all but 1 has been posted on my activity statement. Looks like they only awarded 2 points/$1 instead of the 4 and only purchases under $50 were processed correctly. The missing one was the largest purchase at $1000.

Now have dispatch confirmation from DJs and still no QF Mall email...

Good news - Qantas Mall confirmation came through!

Typical...

I made some purchases from eBay, and none of them have been posted, the iconic did not post either. I sent an enquiry to them, and hasn't heard anything from them.

6 ebay purchases during November 1 - 17. Received 2 confirmation emails but 3 have posted so far exactly 30 days after the purchase. Not sure if I will get the rest. Virgin seems more reliable and I just bought macbook pro via Virgin site even if Qantas is giving 5 points. I still dont trust Qantas site. Glad I only tried with small purchases.

DJ Voucher ordered 25/11 - Received incorrect points this morning

Supposed to be 10 for every dollar....... not 5.09 (Assuming the difference is they add points for shipping as well)

It's a very flaky system, relying on cookies rather than just being able to add your FF number to the online order.

Still no email for my DJs purchase of over a week ago...

same same. Why is this always such a drama. That said, qantas voucher 10:1 came through very quickly this year...

Made my first venture into the Qantas online mall today, buying some Apple products. Enabled all the cookies requested, all went OK.

However at the end, I realised that, as usual my Kaspersky anti-virus software had opened a 'secure browser window' for me to use the Qantas Cash card for payment. If I had my wits about me, I probably wouldn't have allowed the secure window to operate in this case.

I'm wondering if the more IT literate folk here could advise if they think that being in a 'secure browser window' may prevent the cookie tracking necessary for Qantas to track the sale and thus award points?

I have put an enquiry through the site but am not confident of a sensible answer (ie I'm expecting something generic). It also serves as a 'marker' if I have to somehow manually claim the points later.

As mentioned in the OP, I sent a query to the QF service centre, via the link on the mall page.

Simply pathetic.

Bit of an update. After receiving their generic, non helpful response, I e-mailed back on the 17th saying words to that effect.

This morning I got a call from the "QFF Service centre' - a supervisor, no less. He acknowledged the generic nature of their initial response and that he had been looking into it today.

Said he thought it would be OK - basically wanted to assure me that he could see that the transactions had registered on their system OK and the points should go through in 30 days "although, to be honest its taking longer than 30 days at the moment" :-| . He said he had learnt something that morning and this might be of interest here.

Apparently if you open a new browser window during the mall transaction, then that could affect things - such as not registering on the mall (points) side . Did people know this? I didn't.

I don't think he had any info on my actual query which was the effect of using a 'secure browser window' for the transaction. Doesn't sound as if any IT people got asked. As I got the acknowledgment e-mail, and QFF could see it on their system, the answer appears to be 'no issue' (which is what a couple of people here said early on).

I've now had 3/3 David Jones orders have points post at 5 points per $ and not the advertised 10 points per $.
And I'm still waiting for the follow up phone call after reporting the first of the three orders as posting incorrectly.
Simply not good enough :(

There are supposed to be zero points awarded for purchases of gift cards.
The T&C's specifically state that, so you might not want to go chasing that one up
