Doing the normal "I wonder whether my airfare purchase got the bottom price for my dates" search and then expanding it to cover a month afterwards revealed that Q is offering very cheap flights. Most are Q to HK then BA to LHR. The few I looked at were A380 for both Q and BA.

So cheap that it beats even the Chinese carriers (or so Matrix shows).

Happy hunting!

BTW - AA is also offering (today's email) a 25% discount on the cost of buying 65,000 points or more. Lower tiered discounts for lower points purchases. Now I wonder, is this a coincidence or just KARMA?

just crazy - that is cheaper than I what I paid for a SYD-LHR rtn 10 years ago on CX in Y (2.2k)

i guess the EK riches via DXB haven't materialised after all

Being prone to conspiracy theory (realist by another name) - Q have the extra capacity to fill on the A380 and since they don't fly thru HK to LHR themselves coupled with the recently 'enhanced' points & status credits - makes this a better deal for them then feeding Emirates and gaining some yield pickup on their SYD/HK A380.

Or they have and QF can now offer cheaper fares because their cost base is more competitive??

i would tend to agree - anything that stops HK from getting downgraded any further is a good thing!

Are you sure that's not a BA fare?

Definitely Q on matrix front screen and when you process it the fare does look to stay Q badged and the flight numbers appear to stay as Q for SYD/HK rtn.

But then it says (see in red) BA fare - either way it is cheap but maybe status credits at risk etc.

Is $1,800 desperately cheap?? Or just cheap for Qantas or are we talking because of February is it???

That fare doesn't make me fall out of my seat with excitement???

If I knew any fuel dump tricks and could get that YQ down it might be different...

BA Fares often allow QF numbers. It's a great way to ensure you still get QF level SCs on cheaper tix with BA (although only on the QF numbers). It can sometimes raise the YQ though (because you pay the QF and BA YQ separately). A quick check of the QF site shows only via DXB options but still at similar fare levels.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

So it is a BA fare. Not a Qantas fare. So the thread title should be BA offering $1800 fares to London

Only one way to find out for sure - book it!

However as MarcB mentioned there are fares via Dubai also available on the Q web site. So to avoid any doubt go that route.

Price from 3rd week of Jan 15 at $1,810 is attractive.

I dont need to book it to find out:

"Fare 1: Carrier BA OLSALEAU SYD to LON AUD361.22"

That says it is a BA offered fare. It's a good fare no doubt about it, but British Airways is selling and marketing it, not QF.

But as stated, QF are also offering fares at the same level via the QF website.

Cheapest I found is $1902

The $1810 fares started from for flights from Jan 19.

Not to be too suspicious but have you cleared cookies recently? If you've been looking for flights to Europe recently then you've probably been flagged (I cannot remember the thread about prices rising until you clear the cookies).

So try closing that browser and using another one instead - see if that gets you a better result. It is possible I suppose that the seats at that fare class have sold but I suspect the browser cookie may well be the culprit.

Good luck.

I also see $1879 for 1 October to 30 November along with the January dates for this fare. Not seeing lower than that.
