I have been given noise cancelling headphones from business class in the past and these have worked in economy.

thanks guys i will take them along hopefully they dont mind me using them in economy

You may want to disguise the mugs so that they don't look like QF ones any more - they may want them back at the end of the flight! A can of black spray paint and some careful masking should fix that up...

A couple of well placed stickers.

I also scored a set as i was walking off the plane and noticed them sitting nicely in J class. They work on the A380 and the refurbished 747-400's. they have a 3 prong plug and actually make a huge difference on the flight. You can always ask for a set as well, depends on your cabin crew, my mate was given a set and he just asked nicely.

Will they work on EK? I'll bring it along to try anyway and share the info after my flight...

yes, they will work on EK - the only airline that I know will have problems is on some of the older CX regional aircraft where they use a 6.4mm audio plug (getting rare - havent been on on of those for a while).

4.5mm??? I have yet to see such a connector. Some of the older CX cabins use 6.5mm (1/4 inch) stereo connectors.

Yes, ok - I got it wrong... but you knew what I was talking about at least;). Corrected my post with 6.4mm (I just measured one of the plugs - 6.36mm diameter)
