QANTAS Member number question.

I had a four digit QFF number when it was international only that was changed to a five digit* 004xx_x when domestic (TAA or was it Australian?) and International joined up whenever.

(*ignoring the zero's)

When I joined in '91 I had a 5 digit number but a couple of years later Qantas added a 2 digit prefix for reasons I cant even remember.

The 2 digit prefix came in '92 when Qantas amalgamated with Australian Airlines.

My Dad's account is the same, but you can still log into FF on-line without using the 2 digit prefix.

789xx_x here!

Only really got back into QFF through EDR.

Was first registered back in 1995 when I went to the US with the folks. I recall that my points weren't credited and that really annoyed me a 9yr old :D

If it hasn't already been done, it'd be interesting to tabulate and graph member number vs year joined.

I too joined in 1995 (December) and mine is 101xx_X
Mine is 154xx_x, and I joined in 1997. Does that imply 500,000 new members in less than 2 years?

That would be me. I joined the TAA Flight Deck as it was in those days in January 1983. I don't fly much these days - maybe twice a year - but did enough before I retired to get Life Time Gold, which is nice.

My brother joined about 3 months before me and is now Chairman's Lounge and like me is retired.

Cheers

Welcome Ikara to the thread, so glad you joined in. Lifetime Gold? Sounds good to me. I am only on Bronze so I am only starting out. How long did it take you to achieve the Lifetime Gold status?

Mine 269**** join Oct2001. Only wish parents joined me up in the mid 90's, when they joined, did lots of travel MEL-PPP on Bae-146's Ah... the tight seats, parents FF no. 91****.

Mine is 226xx_x and I joined in about 1998 as a result of my BA membership being trfred to Qantas.
Meanwhile my brother is 168xx_x.:D

I am relative newbie based on most replies.

Joined in May 2003 and have a QFF number 436xx_x....

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Until sometime around early 1994, QF and AN rewards points had a "life" of between one and two years before expiring. (Those earned in one membership "year" expired at the end of the next year if not used - for many it did not seem to be worth the bother.)

This changed and they would no longer expire by the time I joined October '94. From this time on the numbers joining began to increase significantly. Going from 600,000's to 800,000's the time SWMBO joined in July'95. BY the time mini serfty became a member in April 2006 it was just over 1,000,000.

Of course, that was nothing like what happened with the introduction of free enrolment with EDR's.

I've been a member since March 1991,my number is 5 digits beginning 72***

I think I joined the Australian Airlines program in early 1989 and have a current membership number of 4xx_x.

I went 'old' Gold in January 1992. Can't recall what the criteria were but I do recall the airlines regional manager personally dropping in to office with my Gold kit. Guess they didn't have many Golds in Cairns in those days.

Gold was good for a few years and carried me over when I did zero flying for a few years while overseas on a posting.

I now look like being lifetime bronze!

I joined in 1988... no is 0210xx_

Spent 4 years in the 80s flying crazy amounts then from 89 did virtually nothing for 17 years  and got going in 2006... especially after discovering AFF :p

Happy little WP now and the foreseeable future :p:p:p
