Qantas Melbourne lounge question

Hi there,

I've recently joined the point hacking world and was fortunate enough to get a couple of lounge passes with my first card.

Having never been in a lounge before this is all new to me.

I'm flying out on a jetstar international flight next week so figured I'd use it for the Qantas international lounge.
When I went to assign it the only option that came up for Melbourne was Melbourne domestic Qantas club.

Does this mean that I'll only be able to use the domestic Qantas lounge?
If so how long should I allow to go through security as I presume this lounge is before customs/international security etc.

Presently you can not add it your flight as the international J lounge is closed. When they reopen you should be able to use them.

cough think I've made a mistake then - I went through with the booking, guessing I can't easily cancel and reassign it? (I think from reading the international lounge opens on the 27th?)

Until 26 March 2022 the QF first lounge is operating as a business class lounge. Unclear if your vouchers will give access.
From 27 March 2022 the QF business international lounge reopens (and the first lounge reverts to first class offerings).

Will depend on what flights are coming up as to how busy security and immigration are. When I went through it was fairly quick but only 2 international flights in the next 6 hours, both over 3 hours away. Security and immigration each only had 2 lanes open.

I'll probably just allocate 1.5 hours to clear customs to be safe I guess.

Hopefully next year will do another first with a trip to Japan in business class.

Ah that sucks. It's been a while since I've linked a lounge pass, but I don't recall there being an option to pick a lounge when linking. Perhaps it's a Jetstar specific thing.

Do you still have a Lounge Pass remaining that you can use to link to the correct lounge (I assume it will show up after the 27th)?

Unfortunately not, being a lowly bronze member (for now) seems they are quite difficult to attain - was fortunate enough to get these two from the ANZ black card.

I might try emailing to see if I can change them after the 27th but the impression I got while booking was that no changes were possible (and again being bronze I'm not sure Qantas would scrape me off their boot).

You can try emailing [email protected], but yeah the form explicitly says no changes sadly. Hopefully they can make an exception for you.

I'll see how I get on with the email you suggested and might get back in touch with you (at least to see if the option to utilise the international lounge opens up after the 27th).
